I'm not sure if anyone from the old board remembers this, but there was a period of time when there was a craze over this updo that is basically a lace braid type of hairdo that begins at the center of the back of the head. It makes a spiral outwards. I remember there was a time it was a Hairstyle of the Month by when I checked in that sub-forum it seems that it has been removed during the upgrading.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I thought it was called a spiral or basket something but it seems like that's not the right name for it.

Was it a Senco spiral? http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=66974

Wow, what a gorgeous style! Will browse that thread to see if anybody attempted to do it on themselves. I can't begin to imagine how difficult that would be.

I don't know how to link it but there is a video on YouTube by Braidsandstyles12 called Diy Spiral Bun where she shows how to do it on your own head. It's amazing, one of my goals to learn this.

I once did the opposite on myself (starting at the hairline and finishing in a braided bun), and I think this would actually be easier to do since the rest of the hair should stay more out of the way. I'll have to try...

Here's my first attempt at this updo on my myself. I wasn't able to do it tight enough though, it would be much easier on someone else.

It still looks really nice from the back, but not so much from the front.
