I've been a long time listener to Car Talk on NPR, and occasionally, they mention someone needing cream rinse. It all started some years ago, and I never knew the genesis of it until today when I finally found the segment. It's here (http://tunein.com/topic/?topicId=54582759) for your listening pleasure.

If you don't want to listen to the whole show to get to it (and if you're in for a good laugh, I'd suggest listening in for a while), this particular segment starts at about 45:15 in.

 Oh my goodness, those guys are funny. :D
I didn't listen to the whole show, only the segment you mentioned, but it was funny when they tried to discuss cream rinses: "Then my wife introduced me to the wonderful world of shampoos..."

The real issue for that lady was likely dry air in her car due to air conditioning. Very low humidity is notorious for flattening out waves/curls temporarily. Using humidifiers and moisturizing hair more can probably help.
