Hello ladies! I was struggling to do the Pha bun today while watching the tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsF9Kp5W9Ig
Well, I couldn't do it, but I think I came up with an idea for a shortened ponytail using the same method. I did just as shown in the video, but I didn't wrap the length around. Here's how it looks:

It holds like a rock! :D
I'm sure someone has already discovered it, but I wanted to share it with you. Feel free to show photos of your shortened ponytails and the methods you use. :flower:

Thank you! French twist never worked for me, so I guess I'll just do this one. :D

I love it!
I'm glad! :)

I tried that before but it fell out as soon as I got up and took a few steps. Is there a trick to getting it to hold?

Ooh that's cute, and a neat idea! :D You should name it. The Dessi tail or something.

Looks great, looks a lot more chic than my shortened ponytail method.

would work nicely as a variation on a French twist for those of us with too much hair :D

I love it! :D Looks amazing and the French twist-like detail is a such a great touch!

I remember trying the unfinished figure-8/infinity/cinnabun with loose end being the ponytail, and it didn't hold for me, unfortunately, so I'm really excited to try this Pha-bun-pony version here. I think it should hold really well since Pha-bun has a very tight beginning.

Very cute! If you want a French Twist you can wrap the "tail" round and round one or two fingers to make a small roll of hair which you then tuck underneath the twist part of your hair, you can pin it under with a couple of bobby pins, and voila! You have a French Twist! That's how I do one at my length, anyway.

That was a lucky mishap, it really looks good.

This is my version of a shortened pony tail, I just make knot on my hair, like a knot on a string and put a hairstick through to hold it in place.

That looks great, I'll have to try it. I can never make a Pha bun work; it ends up way too tight, but maybe this will work.

I also like the tying my hair in a knot method. Because it's lazy.

Here's a shortened ponytail I did a long time ago. It's a Chinese bun with the ends ponytailed and a piece of hair wrapped around the elastic. I started the bun with the tails going down over the stick, crossed them over once, then ponytailed, but when I tried it with the ends going up and crossing twice it shortened my hair to BSL. Unfortunately I can't find the tutorial.

Thank you! I'm sure someone has probably found it, but since it doesn't have a name, let it be the Dessi tail. :D

Thank you for the idea very much! :)

Thanks to all! I'm glad you like it. :flower: I also love your shortened ponytails.
Robot Ninja, I once saw your photo and was amazed at how nice it looked. I tried doing it, but my hair wasn't long enough back then so it didn't really work. :D
