What is your favorite conditioner that contains silicones

It's a trade off between Dove Damage Solutions Intensive Repair and Tresemme healthy volume. The Tresemme has a lot of protein in it, but my hair likes protein.

I don't use either of them straight on my hair, since the have 2 silicones, one being dimethicone which is heavy and can build up if I overdo it. I usually put a healthy dollop of one or the other into my conditioner concoction with each wash.

Wow, I never thought of that before. Thanks, Sterlyn! I think I might try that soon! I wanted to buy an OGX conditioner but I thought I'd get build-up right away because it's heavy on the 'cones. I think I'll mix it with a cheaper, unloved conditioner. :D

Pantene Damage Detox (used with Aqualight shampoo). I can be pretty fickle when it comes to haircare, I experiment a lot, but I've been buying that one repeatedly. Detangles like a dream, but not too heavy so it doesn't weigh my hair down or make it feel greasy.

Since I permed and now with the onset of cold weather, my hair can take a lot more silicones without
being weighed down than it used to. Even with that I couldn't use either of them straight on my hair without getting build up within a within a wash or two. Used like this I can go a month or more CO washing until I need to do a sulfate wash to clarify.

Keep in mind that it has quite a bit of protein in it as well if your hair is sensitive to it

Herbal Essences Hello Hydration, definitely. If I mix it with olive oil and SheaMoisture's Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque (which has no cones), it's even yummier. :)

Yes, I think it's one of the lighter ones, amodimethicone..... let me look it up BRB

ETA: ingredients list copied and pasted;
Water, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Fragrance, Benzyl Alcohol, Dicetyldimonium Chloride, Glutamic Acid, Bis-Aminopropyl Dimethicone, Disodium EDTA, Panthenol, Panthenyl Ethyl Ether, Citric Acid, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone.

It's bis-a dimethicone, not the one I thought, but I'm pretty sure that's one of the lighter, less prone to build up cones.

I like ice shine it's good stuff, it's just not heavy enough for me, especially in the winter.

Bis-Aminopropyl dimethicone is pretty light. And Ice Shine is SUPER light. It definitely wouldn't be one I recommend if you needed a heavier coney condish.

I liked Hello Hydration well enough, but I found Moist was better at detangling form me.
YMMV, we have different hair types, but I thought Moist was a bit more conditioning.

missblueeyes: Hmm about the HH conditioner - I would say that it doesn't build up as fast as the OGX conditioners. When it comes to slip both are equal but what I like about the OGX ones more is that there are more natural ingredients included.
The silicone the HH contains is: Bis-Aminopropyl Dimethicone. I googled it and found this very interesting reddit site: Klick me (https://www.reddit.com/r/HaircareScience/comments/1woutk/all_about_silicones)
It says that this silicone is hard to wash out but doesn't build up.

In the spirit of YMMV, I used the Aussie Moist forever and my hair was absolute HELL to detangle when wet. I tried the HH recently for the first time and it was awesome! My hair practically detangled itself and it is a lot softer and still less tangly after drying. I am hanging with if for now. :)

I love Nexxus Pro mend but not for its intended purpose. It gives me nice thick waves, almost curls if I just air dry it. I don't use it daily, just when I want the look. My go to conditioners are HE Morrocan my shine and hello hydration. I tend to experiment with HE conditioners the only consistency is I like my silicone.

Herbal Essences Hello Hydration or Long Term Relationship, I think. LTR is like HH but better, but I don't care for the smell as much, and it doesn't come in a huge pump bottle.

I don't do well with dimethicone or the cyclic ones, cyclomethicone and cyclopentasiloxane -- they dry my hair out. But bis-aminopropyl dimethicone and amodimethicone are pretty nice and my hair seems happy with them.

I've had good luck with the OGX Coconut Milk and Kukui Oil shampoos and conditioners. I'm a WCC, and Lapuska's recommendation of Hello Hydration is spot on for my hair--I use it as my first C. I want to try OGX's Cherry Blossom and Ginseng line (my hair craves moisture!) and see what happens there.

The ones in the OGX line that don't like my hair are the Keratin Oil, Argan Oil and Shea Butter and the Tsubaki Blossom shampoos/conditioners...pity, too, because I love the smell of the Tsubaki Blossom, but such is life :(

Thank you! :) I think I used to use Herbal Essences before (the clearly naked line) and my hair liked it. I think I'll try the LTR or HH, depending on what's in store the next time I check it out. I get the thing about the natural ingredients in the OGX, that's what really got me interested in it, too. Too bad the only ones available here are heavy on the proteins and I'm not willing to order yet another hair product. :(

Edit: Actually, I just read that reddit link through and I'm not sure about experimenting with HE anymore. That bis-aminopropyl dimethicone sounds too heavy for me. I don't clarify regularly so I prefer the cones that vaporate or wash out. :)

Luckily, it doesn't build up. I have never actually had a problem with that cone alone causing buildup. (It's usually because I LOVE TRYING THINGS ON MY HEAD!! and have a lot of products)

I wonder if something like a really good cowash conditioner or something like soapnuts can take out coney conditioners?

I have read (can't remember where at this point, so nothing to back it up) that Cowashing, when done with lot's of massaging, can remove the lighter cones.

I've never actually that theory to the test though, I'm Cowashing again but I also use Dimethicone too, which can build up. I can go sometimes 2 weeks (4-6 washes) before I need a sulfate wash and I'm putting a lot of MO, coney cond's and product in my hair to combat winter dryness and changes in hair texture from the perm I had.

It's not about the build-up but mostly about the 'not being able to wash it off without clarifying shampoo'-part that worries me. The article on reddit states that this 'cone forms a very solid layer that can hardly be penetrated and thus should be used with care. I'd rather use the 'cones that can be washed out with mild shampoos or water since I only need them for slip and not to patch up my hair, which is what bis-aminopropyl dimethicone is used for. :)

Again, I'm not talking about build-up, I'm talking about not being able to wash it off without having to clarify. :) When I do my hair, I want most 'cones gone with one s/c so my hair can benefit from my no-'cone routine. Only then I slap them back on to seal the ends with a leave-in. I was thinking about doing WCC with 1 coney conditioner at the end instead of the leave in, which is why I'm currently researching 'coney conditioners.

I think I truly "clarify" with an appropriate shampoo (Pantene clarifying) every 6 to 8 weeks - approximately. Sometimes sooner, it depends on how I feel. I don't have any issues washing it out in the mean time with a regular sulfate shampoo, but then I don't know what it will do with a sulfate-free one. You could just go for it and try it, might be okay.

Garnier Triple Nutrition for Dry Damaged Hair. I have a huge bottle of this and no complaints.
L'Oreal Total Repair 5 is ok. I have the travel size and will not purchase a larger bottle. I actually prefer the Vive Hydro Gloss but have a difficult time finding it in stores. I use the Total Repair 5 shampoo with good results. I use that once or twice a week and prefer it to the conditioner.

My new HG is the wet brush (well, I have a dupe). I no longer need a very moisturizing conditioner to get my hair untangled; the brush just glides through damp hair like you wouldn't believe, and so doesn't "tug" or pull like my wide tooth comb did. Awesome. But I will still be using up my stash, but it's no longer the end of the world to run out of the conditioner. :)

We haven't been able to get it in Belgium, or The Netherlands for quite some time. There aren't shops around who sell it anymore. Not even online.

I can't get Amazon, or anything.

But I have a backstock of the HH, so no worries for me. And besides, since discovering the wet brush (dupe), I no longer need a very moisturizing conditioner to get the tangles out. Yay!

Initial results are in: I didn’t like the feel of my hair while it was still wet or damp, but it’s significantly calmed down since fully drying and it feels different but perfectly good! A few frizzy bits which for some reason are exacerbated by cones and it weirdly gets a coarse unruly quality in some spots, but over all it’s very good. I used to use OGX Argan Oil Poo/Condish and while it had. heavenly scent I’m realizing the cones were way too heavy for my hair. His lighter cone feeling in the HH from HE is much more comfortable and manageable. After this bottle I might go back to Aussie Moist which was my holy grail for about 8 years before I changed for a reason I don’t even remember.. but for certain I didn’t stop using Aussie cause I disliked it. Maybe I just wanted a different scent or something. AnywYs I’m feeling good about all his!

An update for Hello Hydration... I doubt it's been discontinued. The last couple months Herbal Essences has been updating packaging. In the US at least it should be safe. I know Walmart will put old packaging on clearance. The shipments might just be slower outside the US? The formulas are the same from what i've read.

Lapushka- is Hello Hydration still MIA over there? It’s still everywhere here in the States, although they seem to have done some packaging updates. They also seem to be heavily pushing the Bio Renew line, which I don’t like at all. My favorite from them is still the Smooth/ Shine collections, although when I’m finished with my Smooth collection conditioner, I might splurge on one of the Matrix Biolage ones, I get kind of a high (ha) from the smell of that line (although not all have the classic scent), one of the shampoos is in my rotation and now I want a conditioner to match.

I don't have any issues washing it out in the mean time with a regular sulfate shampoo, but then I don't know what it will do with a sulfate-free one. You could just go for it and try it, might be okay.

Which regular sulfate shampoo do you use?

My hair loves Joico Moisture nd KPAK Intense Hydration.

Over the years I have tried the department store variety like HH but, they are just not moisturizing enough...not sure what the difference is :hmm:

My top is the its a 10 deep conditioner with keratin in the squeeze tubes, plus the Neautrogena triple moisture mask ❤️ Sooo nice and smoothing. I’ve searched for them my whole life :) I love the consistency because they are both buttery creamy and thick. I can’t stand watery thin conditioners :/

Joico Moisture and KPAK Intense Hydration

ETA: HH and recently the Suave rose oil S&C were just not moisturizing enough for me; I tangle and frizz with both

Simple. My Holy Grail is Herbal Essences Hello Hydration. It's not too too heavy on the silicones and is a great detangler.

This is a good one!

It left my hair amazingly soft. It did however also leave it a little light and fluffy so it appeared a bit frizzy with flyaways.
To beat that I added a drop or two of oil and blended with the conditioner in my palms before applying to my end and voila!

Definitely recommend the HH Hello Hydration :)

Drugstore Brand is definitely HE Argan Oil of Morocco conditioner. Loved everything about it. It was the only drugstore conditioner that I absolutely loved.

Which regular sulfate shampoo do you use?

Pantene Aqua Light, if I can help it. If that's not available to me, I pick up the volumizing shampoo by Pantene. Both are light, with sulfates, but without silicones.

I am on a project use it up, so I have 3 Schwarzkopf shampoos waiting for me, 2 bottles of the kiwi shine, and one yoghurt shampoo (yes a yoghurt shampoo LOL).

I am going to be using it again with my "fix my hair" hair mask by Aunt Jackie's, because that one leaves tangles like you wouldn't believe! OMG it's just not on! Since I'm on a project use it up for the year, I have been trying all my other conditioners that I still have but I will have to bust my Holy Grail out for this one! :)

Has to be Garnier wholeblends coconut oil and cocoa butter. It smells like heaven and it's very moisturizing and creamy.

Has to be SiliconeMix. My hair loves this stuff! And the smell is so good like baby powder! :)
