Good luck with your search! Drives me nuts when I can't find a thing I want when I found it before.

Hello!

While my site is in dire need of a several year update, maybe
it is one of these?

It wasn't that site, but it was the toy I was thinking about!

Wow, I have one of these that was given to me by a friend, but I had no idea what it was! I just thought it was something fun to play with.

And it's really a hairtoy -- who knew?!

It's missing the little metal stick, but I'm sure I could find some other stick to use... *runs off to experiment!*

Oh, isn't that just a nifty hair toy!!! Adding another hairtoy to my list of "need to get one of these someday!" things.

I think this object is originally a Buddhist thing and not originally designed as a hairtoy. It is called a Mandala. I think it represents the cosmos and is used as an aid to meditation. Although I don't know if that is entirely right and it does make an interesting hairtoy.

these were big at the ren faires in the mid 90s.
I had a buddy with a COC/SOS wagon who just cleaned up with them.
