I've been through 7 different salons in the past 3 years and cannot seem to find a decent stylist. I'm really not that difficult (or am I?), but I have hair that really holds on to its red tones when lifted (think neon carrot) despite being naturally ash-toned dark blonde and all seven places have been dreadful with this: either giving me thick streaks when I asked for just a few wispy highlights or, more commonly, not lifting enough and giving me dreaded carrothead (ugh). We're talking senior stylists. :/ I'm at my wits' end. I've given up the dream of having a cool ash-toned balayage and just want someone who knows their way around a bottle of toner.

I know someone who I think can give me a half-decent trim when needed (at APL I'm still too short to do it well myself; once I get to BSL I can handle it from past experience) but I'm dying for a colourist recommendation in particular--though if you know a hair guru for trims, happy to hear that too. Please and thank you.

There is a very professional salon near Baker Street, it's called HOB salon. Celebrities go there (Paris Hilton was seen there), they are quite often in a tv doing hair for x-factor contestants etc.
They have very well trained people. I forgot the name of the lady but if you call them up and ask about colour director they surely will be able to help you. Price wise is not that more expensive than usual London salon. Haircuts from £45-£70, colour £120. There is also famous George Michael salon in London, which specialises in long hair care.

I have heard great things about John at Trevor Sorbie in Covent Garden - one source is Ruth from Amodelrecommends :) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6IaZA0-3SQ
