Face framing layers and/or bangs

I am still debating what direction to go w/ my hair in the future and would really like to see some photos of face framing layers in give me some ideas. Does anyone have pics of theirs, past or present? I'm fairly sure that I need some type of layering in the front of my hair to avoid it looking glued to my head, though I've also been debating just pinning up the front section and letting the layers grow out since that would make updos so much easier. I also have this fear that as my hair gets longer, the layers will look worse and worse, and might thin my hair out too much. Decisions, decisions....

My goal length for the moment is waist, by the way.

Seeshami, do you trim them yourself? Any styling required for the trimmed version? Or does having a little of natural hair body help?

Nightshade, your layers look so natural and delicate, I imagine they make your updos look really nice. Do you also trim them especially or do they appear naturally?

I went ahead and did a little bit of angling around the face. It looks MUCH less plastered to my head in front. I did itty bitty pieces angled down starting at lip length. It just softens things. I'm glad I did it, at least for now! (Yikes! How do I make that smaller?)

I had very short face-framing layers a few years ago, and I didn't really like them this short, but now they have grown to waist + and I'm finally pleased with them. :D But they did give some volume.

I trim them :) I have these "horns" that grow by my temples where the hair doesn't get more than 4-5 inches long. The layers help blend them into something that looks purposeful.

Hehe, I have those "horns" too... I'm hoping they'll grow longer though because they look like baby hair regrowth after my anemia-induced shedding. I don't know if it's worth cutting in some layers around them to blend them temporarily.
