Hello everyone!

I'm fifteen, still new to this forum and TE has left me feeling very depressed. I used to have a very thick hair that many were envious of, but my ponytail is now half of what it used to be! I'm still trying my very best to remain positive. However, I still do break down often and get really upset due to the condition of my hair. I have an eating disorder induced telogen effluvium and I'm slowly, but eventually recovering by eating healthily and normally. My hair loss (150~250 per day) continued for about four months before it subsided recently (20~50 per day) after I chopped my hair off (I couldn't stand seeing my hair fall off everyday; it fell off almost everywhere!) and after I started taking supplements like multivitamins and biotin.

As of now, I'm just wondering if there are any methods for the regrowth of my hair back to its' original state. I've read about oiling of the hair, using garlic, onion juice and apple vinegar cider on the hair, and more. I'm just wondering if any of these methods have helped you with hair regrowth after TE, and all TE recovery stories will definitely be appreciated. Thank you very much! :)

Once you eat healthy again, there is no reason why it shouldn't grow back in. It *is* going to take a lot of time, though.

I lost a lot of weight at one point and weighed about 45 kg for 1.70m of height, and that was waaay underweight. On top of that, I wasn't eating properly. I too lost a lot of thickness, and I wasn't even anorexic. Just bad choices on my part and being on that very border towards a disorder (teens, you know...) but I got through it. My hair has been back to its iii thickness for years now.

Thanks for replying! How long did it take for your hair to grow back to its original thickness again? I've been noticing a bit of regrowth lately too, just little baby hairs around.

I'd also say that right now what's important is that you get your diet on track. Beautiful hair starts on the inside :) Those baby hairs are signs that things are getting better! :happydance: Now it will just take patience and healthy eating so that all those new hairs will keep sprouting and traveling down your length. Congrats on the new growth!

It sounds like you've gone through a very stressful period. I like scalp massages on running a boar bristle brush across my scalp and down my length because it's so relaxing and stimulating. There are tons of hair treatments, instructions, and helpful people all over this forum. Although hair health comes from the inside first, putting aside time to do a treatment or scalp massage can be such an excellent de-stressor!

Aw thank you so much! :) I'm definitely trying to eat a lot healthier and go back to my normal eating habits, so hopefully my hair will grow back soon to its original thickness!

Archaic, how is your hair now? Is the thickness level back to normal? I have TE induced from undernutrition as well and have lost 60% of my hair.
