Hello People!! I know some hair junkies never get tired of these hair anniversaries (I'm one of them :p) and realize heck I needed to make my contribution.

REASON TO COME TO THIS FORUM

My original reason to come here was from a rather traumatic and really painful experience. I had reached Classic Length in early '14 but my hair was (still is) insanely fine and my ends were looking really awful from my own perspective, no splits just awful rat tails and was always in braids and buns. So I decided to start somehow fresh and decided to follow my hair guru advice Emichee's post.

My hair was chopped to mid back and I was already on micro trimming when something bad happened. I was hit by a car when I was crossing an avenue here in Mexico City (not the safest or poliest place to be a pedestrian walkable person). I went to hospital with several injuries, lose motion of time and consciousness. When I woke up I was in bed with one of the most painful nightmares I ever had. What totally devastated me was that I had a huge bleeding open wound in my head!!!!!!!!! My hair eventually fell a lot and from a person who already has thin hair it was a nightmare come true.

I had my leg broken so I had to wear a plaster, so did my on my head, but I really survived. From that day on, I promise to myself that I would do the best to enjoy my hair and life in general because any time and it can be all gone.

I sort of felt I had lost a part of me, still my resilience allow me to continue and have the guts to get my hair nice, not long but nice once again.

Here is a pic about a month later. This is only pic I decided not to delete from the back of my head, and does not look that bad, but believe me the bald spot was big, back hair photos showed how bad was taper and my hem went to zero basically. My hair was between mid back and waist.

Nevertheless I saw my hair could look semi good specially when I brought it all forwards and took my first proper pics (I hadn't mention that I used to be photo phobic, that's why I don't have my classic lenght pics to show)

http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y375/Marino_Torocho/003_zpsuu4sllrb.jpg (http://s1031.photobucket.com/user/Marino_Torocho/media/003_zpsuu4sllrb.jpg.html) http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y375/Marino_Torocho/002_zpsmmqaznu6.jpg (http://s1031.photobucket.com/user/Marino_Torocho/media/002_zpsmmqaznu6.jpg.html)

I already new LHC for the longest time, but I joined in November '14 to prove me that I no longer was afraid of showing who I am

RECOVERY AND THE FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR.

Right when I knew that old time natural organic honey was able to heal my wounds (I prefer holistic-natural approach), the first 3 or 4 months was applied in topical and ingested both in my arms and scalp. I thank to my wise body and the universe because I got away with it and saw my hair was slowly growing from the sides of my now scalp scar. The only med I took were painkillers and used hydrogen peroxide to sterilize my patch and do my honey treatment.
When the wound was totally closed I continue (still every now and then) with honey pre washing, ACV rinses and adventures into egg washes. My hair was lovely for a few time, but eventually became a greasy mess. I have to say both of these methods, made my natural and after accident shedding decrease to nothing. That's why honey has such a strong place in my heart.

Also I cut my hair to APL and tied my hair in the most gentle ways (mostly twin braids, low loose bun and hair down with bandanas or bobby pin sides).

Some pics from that time and my first proper LHC back hair photos

SECOND HALF YEAR AND WHERE I'M HEADING.....

I continue, pretty much my scalp is fully recovered. My hair was fine before the accident, but scalp cleavage is noticeable now in certain styles and I really cant wear higher or tight updos since i'm kinda sensible in that part of my head.

I have to say even Im not in the best time of my life and there was a point in which my hair kinda controlled my life. However, it feels more like a life partner to me and no matter what i'm keeping it now more than ever.

My hair is not that impressive when I compared to other LHC people and guys (really goneJackal and MINAKO :p) But this is really not a post about the longest hair archived, this a post for people who want to improve the quality of their hair and ENJOY IT. Hope this can work to someone and not give up so easy.

I still and will continue Emichee's micro trim method to make my hem-ends fuller and catch up with the shorter hairs around the scar, it's really hard and sometimes I just want to chop. Heck no, my hair feels and looks fuller even when my hair was classic lenght, sometimes I can tell my bun-pony and braids feel bigger.

So here are some of my current pics. My lengh is almost BSL but I will continue cutting back to APL from time to time. Some pics kinda show my hair better at some points. Sometimes I really hate flash because it looks stringy and gross, and sometimes the real feeling of relief of having hair!!!

Is this is an Anniversary or what ...... Let's get happy and bring the pics!!!!!! :toast:

 Honestly my opinion is that your hair looks wonderfully thick. After all we are our worst critics. I will tell you my hair is thin from layers, but I have gotten several compliments here on "how thick my hair is". I know only we can touch our own hair, but yours looks awfully nice to me. :)

And thank you! I adore her. She's a 13-year-old mustang, and the absolute foremost goddess in my life. I ride her very little, but we've been best friends for several years, and she's a balm for all wounds. :o

Well no kidding I delate 100 pics or more because my hair looked very ropey!!!....

But I totally understand how strong is the human-animal bond. No one in this world knows how much joy and happiness they bring to my life. Loving my animal friend- partners is one of the few authentic reasons to continue living, learning and wanting a better life.

I've never have that great experience with a horse, but I know they are wonderful creatures. No joke, I recently saw a german movie for kids, Classic plot, girl loves stuborn horse, horse loves her, but people around her tell that horse is bad. Still this one was not the cheesy animal type movie to me, I liked it a lot and brought to tears.

My thing to say, give her the best love and she will return it to you in the most graceful way!!!

It must have been very hard, I'm very glad you are recovered!
And it's good to see that, after all you've been through, you managed to grow such an amazing and healthy hair.
Congratulations for that!

And, honestly, I must have real photographic skills to fool you, because your hair is so much healthier than mine, it's not even fair. http://www.felipesv.com/forum/k_lol.gif

But thank you, anyway!

And congratulations for the anniversary!

goneJackal LOL I didnt even know that option was here. But it's all true, your hair is my dream hair bro. Well after putting smelly eggs and pretty much religiously micro trimming every month, it better turned out healthy or i'll sell my grandma :p. What a great story! I love looking at anniversary posts and I enjoyed reading this. Thank you for sharing with us.

I love what you said about enjoying your hair. I've come to the point where for me, length isn't as important as quality. Get it to the healthiest it can be and really love it and acknowledge for what it is, your best.

Cheers! :flower:

I had no idea that

a) you have only been a member for a year - you have such a personality you have taken a solid place in what makes this community the lovely place it is;

and b) that you have gone through something so life changing so little while ago. It must have been a a real turning point in your life, I hope everything will be smooth sailing from now on!

I don't know how to speak spanish, but dictionary tells me feliz aniversario would be that way to go :D So happy anniversary, and may your hair flourish as brightly as your friendly personality shines :flowers: :toast:

Your hair looks better than you give it credits for, I have always liked it very much! And I completely agree on enjoying our hair. :)

On another note, sorry for taking so long on that message, I really didn't see your reply.
Did a quick mod here (just as I did that "quoted by" thing, too) and hopefully won't miss any more messages.

So inspiring in so many ways YahirwaO.o! I love to see people really appreciating and enjoying the results of their efforts and patience, even as they're still working toward their eventual goals. It's just as important to savour the journey as well as the destination, I think :)

I've known a handful of people who like you have had the course of their lives changed in an instant by trauma and have become better, stronger, more focused and happier people as a result. Respect :)

Thank you lapushka coming from your chemical burn story, not same, but I felt quite identified and saw how you conquered that hot mess! Seriously your hair is now so long and thick!!!

wilderwein ROFL!!!!!! When I made that comment wasn't expecting so much responses. I have some metal Norwegian folks with blonde knee length hair, they look like mythical creatures to me! Even with beards and the whole black metal thing, the fact is, they are pretty and one guy has such babyface! Well there was enough people who were mending right next! Even I appreciate now that man who hit me, I know it was wrong and a strong stance to say, but Im able to learn a lot from negative people-situations, no more no sense negativity.

Yes ravenheather , there is a whole brain wash that says thin or fine hair can't be beautiful and long. Heck to that! My main target is people like you, we need to realize that our hair is beautiful and enjoy its natural state. I embrace all, my hair and I are in pretty good terms now!!!

Well watching your videos brushing and relaxing! I quite disagree Sarahlabyrinth :o

gthlvrmx Yes friend, your blog posts cheer me up too!!

You guys are all fantastic!!!!!

She was-is my hair saviour. A true inspiration, her hair is still long and gorgeous. Also has struggle for the longest time with some serious health problems yet she has managed to keep her length and health.

Ahahahaha oh yeah, I've read all of them, it ended up in a racist conversation tho. Oh well youtube....

You with your beautiful hair also look like a mythical creature! I've told you this before, but you mexicans have INSANE hair! The kind of hair you see in the pictures and you wanna touch it  Also you have some gorgeous natural blue undertones :thud: worthy. I'm sure your hair always looked good, you just judge yourself much harder than anyone else.

Oh yeah I totally get what you say, every difficult situation a person has, it can be either catastrophic for him or life changing.
Some people like you are being reborn from experiences like this and enjoy their life at its fullest.

Yahirwa- Your hair looks amazing.

I think it's great you got over your photo phobia and are unafraid, as you said, to show who you are. It sounds very liberating.

And the info about the honey helping your wound is something I will remember. Thanks for sharing your story! It was very inspiring and I never knew all that. It makes me have so much more of an idea of who you are. That is a horrible thing to go through though, so I'm sorry that it happened to you and Im glad you're ok and you can share with us.

DeadlyUnicorn It was indeed but getting the best even from the worst experiences gives a new sense to life all the time!!!

wilderwein Thanks, well a lot of people always wants to play with it, but I don't enjoy someone wants to touch me (except for my cats LOL). And i'm usually picked as he the hippie new age boy, even from my long haired friends (they are more into Slayer, Trash Metal subculture to explain violence so on) and Im more into (Pink Floyd, The band Animals, Joni Mitchell, Crafts and Old Aztec Philosophy so on). Regarding to youtube comments, how could you read the whole stuff?. My gmail youtube notifications arrived and arrived so I had to stop but to the majority of utterly stupid comments. Thanks for the good vide feedback!!

cat11 Thanks for reading and noticing the honey info part. Its such a powerful treatment when healing scars and wounds. My mom had a major surgery in her stomach belly part. Honey helped closing the wound in just 3 months, now there is such small scar it's just incredible.

Now I know most people shouldn't go all natural because there are some major pathologies and such. But in my case me and family is usually a better alternative and it's not that invasive to body.

But as hair treatment is totally safe and everyone can try honey!

Thank you! :D Yeah, 10 years of growing later... ;) :p No, but it's nice that I have something to show now for my efforts (patience). It was the most hard thing to do in the beginning of growing out natural/virgin hair, and that was to be patient. It is really an acquired skill!

Wow thanks dude!!!! you are great at making everything easier for us in this site!!!!

I make many client-side mods with tampermonkey to make life easier. Not only on LHC, but on many other sites.
When I have the time, maybe I can create a browser extension to use in LHC so other people can enjoy them too.

What I've done here so far was that:

1. Quote alert: shows the yellow box when you've been quoted on the page.
When you click the name, it'll lead you to the post. Also, those posts get an yellow background:

http://i.imgur.com/1rSmB5Q.png

2. Ajax page loader: a button to load the next page's posts without leaving the page.

http://i.imgur.com/2IRaZkq.png

3. Enhanced Settings panel: a few new functions to the Settings panel:
a) The page title shows how many unread subscripted threads there are.
b) You can see the latest visitor messages directly from that panel, no need to go to your profile. I made that one because, as I told you, there were a few visitor messages that I didn't reply because I haven't seen them.
c) Shows the currently active users. That's not actually very useful, but the bottom of the page was so empty, I figured that would be a cool thing to add.

When you have the time and agree with moderators (there are already some changes, your contribution would benefit a lot more)

A cinammon between tight and loose usually gives the best results on me. But I recommend you to prep your hair first with some product of your choice. My hair is straight with slightest wave still bun waves fall and go flat in matter of minutes. Plain old mousse and sugar water make it hold for hours, but then again it starts falling and pretty much bun it again or brush it and go back to straight stubborn life!!!

I have also done 2 cinnamon high buns (Princess Lea style) and they give the best waves ever!! But I never go out side looking like that and sleeping in them is not that comfortable!

Glad to hear you've recovered and that you're enjoying your hair. It looks great! :toast:

Out of curiosity, you have really dark hair like me. Did you experience any lightening from the honey you used? I always want to use honey in treatments but I don't want to lighten my hair at all.

You dare me???? Its not such a big deal really :p. I mean I have had crazy blue colour in the past, bouncy pin curls, straightener dolly curls, blow outs, short layered stuff, bowl cut, mohawk, shaved sides, bald and emo hair. I've been through so much ugly and not so ugly hairstyles ha ha. Ill take the picture, a video is nearly impossible, my cam is pretty bad and heck I find complicated uploading a youtube video.

roseomalley Thank you so much for reading and watching. I was expecting people like you-us fine haired gals. My main reason here is to encourage all people that have thin-fine hair to have gratitude and joy with their hair. I uploaded the pretty perfect pics because its an anniversary, but I still struggle with thin strands and always will! I find you and your hair equally pretty and the airy soft feeling about it! No matter what, never feel you hair is less than others types!!!

Thanks!!! Not any lightning here at all! and I even do ACV rinses still my hair is pretty dark. As a matter of fact my colour is dark brown when sun hits on it, but indoors and camera make it look almost black.

I think honey bleaching works better with cold undertones or already blonde hair, us with warmer tones and dark hair experience little to no change.
Loepsie's recipe may do lighten happen for dark hair, but honey alone did nothing to my natural color!!!!

Bro you should totally wear your hair in half up!!!!! Its pretty convenient when you want your hair out of your face but don't want to commit fully to a severe bun or pony and have a down look!
Half tail is pretty classic and great for trying first, but a half braid or bun can look pretty bad ass too!!!

Yeah a half braid would be pretty awesome, LOTR style! Have to get braiding down first, and right now I can only braid well over my shoulder so I can't quite manage a good braid let alone a half one. Maybe in a few weeks I'll be able too. Thanks for the encouragement.

No problem, you are already on your way of good braiding skills! It took me years and years to fully master braid weave stuff!

Another advice would be to start with a ponytail base first then braid and secure with a second tie. You can leave or remove the first hair tie, but you should have a nice easy braid going on!

Just discovered what is a half-up. Thanks, Google.
I made that once in a new-year party. When I got there, my friends said "Sorry, this is not a LOTR themed party, try the next house".

Maybe I'll make something like that again on the Star Wars premiere, as it's a bit Qui-Gon Jinn-ish.

That meme is funny! Well I think it looks very LOTR if there is braiding involved! I actually feel plain with just half tail, braiding makes whole thing interesting. My siggy or the photo below me its a lace braid tuned into a rope braid. My everyday are two lace braids or semi dutch braid ending in whatever.

I've done the top knot half up thing that seems pretty popular but I feel between the worst mexican hipster and rejected character from a 90s show!! :taz:
