So, I've had massive shedding for months now. I'm talking about the floor being full with long, thin hair. My hair is straight, thin and my scalp is oily, but this kind of shedding just scares me and it doesn't stop. I'm on 100 mg Seroquel and under lots of stress, and I guess this is why it falls of, cause my blood test are perfect.

I've been using Alpecin shampoo and taking vitamins, including Biotin and MSM, but still, the hairbrush, the floor, my hair is everywhere. I had my bleached ends trimmed a month ago, and just now I took a picture of it. And I got suprised. It actually looks... okay.

The weirdest thing ever. Also, what else can I do to help prevent hair loss? And how it that length called?
Thanks in advance.

That isn't just ok, I think it looks great :o I know since my hair has gotten so long I feel like I'm losing more and more but it's just the hairs are so long it looks like a lot.. I have hairs all over the place as well. Perhaps you are shedding a lot but that is something to keep in mind too. I've heard you can lose 50-100 hairs per day. I don't really have any tips for preventing it but someone else might. :) I think it's waist length or mid back length? I'm going with waist cause it looks like it's at your waist and I'm not 100% sure what mid back is lol. Hope I was a little helpful, your hair truly looks amazing :heartbeat

Mind you, it's seasonal shed right now, so a bit normal for hair loss to be more than you'd expect. Once you start focusing on it for the very first time, it might seem a lot when in fact it's normal. Just keep an eye on your ponytail circumference. Measure it once, then measure it again, next year. A ponytail undergoes a little loss a little gain during the year, but should be about the same yearly.

First of all- thank you. The thing is, I don't think it's seasonal, it's been going on for about half a month. You can see the thinning on my scalp, sometimes I'm don't feel so great with it (I'm 5'1, so...). I really do believe it's the med I'm taking and I am looking for methods and stuff that can slow down the hair loss. The growth is awesome, but I still lose a lot of hair. I've started to use onion juice lately, it's kinda new, so I can't tell if it's working. Love my hair, would like to keep it the way it is (or longer, if I can).

Okay, so I haven't slept much, and I can't edit the comment so- ^^;

Have you gone to the doctor recently? When's the last time you had bloodwork done. You talk about obvious thinning on your scalp, that's not normal.

And BTW seasonal shed can go on for a few months... it varies from person to person. Mine lasts over a month.

My seasonal shedding usually lasts about two months (early August til late September) and scares me even when I know exactly what it is. That being said, if you are seeing changes in how much of your scalp you can see, you might want to consult a doctor. Certainly, high stress and medications can also cause hair to shed. (I've had that happen, as well..) It will usually resolve itself with lifestyle and nutrition changes. I also used Nioxin products for awhile, with good results.

I hope you have hair happiness soon. But if it helps, your hair looks lovely in your picture. :)

Oh dear, sorry to hear that :( I'm also on Seroquel (250 mg). Personally, I haven't noticed increased shedding, but obviously side effects will vary... I would also advise you to visit your doctor. It could be a combination of seasonal shedding and stress. Hope you can resolve this soon :flower:

I can feel your pain. Doctor switched my meds in June and I started to notice a heavier shedding than normal a month later. At first I thought it was just the annual shed kicking in, but its still going. The amount of hair shed after each time I need to brush or detangle was becoming scary and I started to worry that it was more serious a few weeks ago. My hair was always quite thick and is usually a probelm for me to have down in the summer due to the heat. Now, unless I am so careful with how I arrange my hair, I can see too much scalp showing through and my classic length hair when put into a bun now can easily fit in one fist. Back to the doctors as soon as I can get an appointment and will be refusing this medication.

I will go to the doctor soon, but last time I went, the doctor had no idea what's the cause, I was given Nizoral Shampoo, found out that I'm allergic and quit using it. So, at the moment it's Alepcin shampoo, CO on the roots, trying onion juice, vitamins, Biotin, MSM, Spirulina, Chia seeds, I am trying. Reduced my Seroquel to 50 mg, am thinking of going to a specialist, but it's gonna cost me lots of money... But yeah, the thinning on the scalp shows, and while my hair grows, it also falls, and I just want it to end. :<

I agree, meds and stress can be hazardous to hair. :<

I hope you will find another med that will work for you and won't affect your hair.
