So my boyfriend and I are going to a Halloween party as the couple from Beetlejuice and I will be going as Barbara.

My hair is reaching tailbone so it'll be much longer but I still want to at least vaguely achieve this hair look. I have bangs but don't have any layers. Are there ways to get a perm-ish look without too much teasing/damaging? Sleep in curlers and pin some bits up with bobby pins + hairspray to mimic layers? Any other ideas? Has anyone done this before? :p

Wet set pin curls with flax seed setting gel??? They are generally used for mid century styles, but if you finger comb to seperate out instead of smooth brushing maybe... My hair often did that with pincurls before smoothing it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Djo38LJkclk

Pincurls in damp hair, allowed to dry that way, will probably give you lots of springy curls. You much want to give it a test run first, though.

Google "straw curls". Heatless curling method that is known for giving a tighly curled, permed look.

Beautyklove on YT has a lot of ways to curl the hair. Check her out! :)

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll definitely be running a few test runs, haha.

For the length, maybe try some faux-bob tutorial but make it a bit longer than bob-length.
I doubt you'll get such root curl with heatless methods on hair of your length, but I hope you will. I agree with the advice to experiment well beforehands, heatless curls might need some practice and might not always turn out like you'd expect.

Put your hair into small braids, leave overnight, loosen the next day. et voila.

I was going to suggest straw curls as well. You can wrap them right up to the root to try and get some lift and curl at the root.

I've had rag curls on very damp hair take my (then) TBL hair to about shoulder length. Depending on texture and thickness, it is doable.
The main issue with rag curls and other similar styles is that they must dry fully in the style - if the hair is still damp when you take the rags out, the curls will just fall out. To avoid that, make sure to do fairly small and very even sections - big sections won't dry. You probably also want some sort of gel (which I didn't use), especially if you have a fair amount of taper, and to roll the curls very carefully otherwise they'll tangle and you'll have to cut rags out of giant snarls (ask me how I know...).
