Hi all. I'm thinking about getting my hair cut like this (woman on right):https://instagram.com/p/8Jdgu7Rr_8/?taken-by=merediddys

woman in middle: https://instagram.com/p/8JdRtDRr_d/?taken-by=merediddys

I'm on the fence...do you guys think that I could pull this off? http://imgur.com/HoYnnK8

I'm considering the change because my curls are really dragging...

I don't know. Your face shape is much different than the girl pictured, but I don't see why it couldn't work for you. It's going to take some effort in styling to get the curls to fall that evenly, I think.

I think that style is very pretty and it would probably suit you really well!
If the bounce and volume is more important to you than length, I say make yourself happy!

It's a very cute style, weather or not you can pull it of depends on ifyour curls have a lot of volume- creating a big triangle around your face wouldn't work well I think. Those curls look like they take a lot of work and or product to keep styled/untangled, even with natural ringlets.

However I must say your green eyes are gorgeous!...

Thanks!! I am worried about whether or not my hair would actually look like that. I don't want it to look like a triangle or a mop! I don't have really any volume or "perkyness" to my curls right now, probably because of the length. Here's me with shorter hair: http://imgur.com/XGsTZbR

I think your shorter hair picture is a better indication of what your hair going to look like short. It's nice to get inspiration from others hair, but unless you spend the time in styling and/or get the texture chemically changed, it is still your hair and will still look like your own lovely hair.

If you really want a change and have so for awhile, go for it! If it's just boredom or a case of being infatuated with someone else, try out some new styling tutorials or go and get your makeup done professionally, go to a clothing store and try a new look, find your own style not someone else's style.

Honestly I see that as a very awkward length. I think it would take quite a bit of product to achieve it. Why not go for something 3 or 4" longer so you can put it up and do some cute things with it?

I agree that it looks like it will take a lot of product to make it look like that. She has more volume at the roots to keep it from looking like a triangle. She also looks like she scrunches product into the length of it too.

I like it, but I would keep a little more length than she has if you really want something different.

Either way if you decide to chop I hope you share the end result with us! :)

I had a similar cut a few years back, and though it was fun for a brief while and it got a lot of compliments, I couldn't do much with my hair, I NEVER had decent 2nd day hair, and there was no way to just put in back in a ponytail and forget about it -- I HAD to style it.

I truly think the longer hair is more flattering to your features than the shorter hair was.

I do understand the urge to cut off some length when you feel like your curls are getting deflated/undefined. I've done it before but I usually end up regretting it in a week. And I agree with spidermom, you look lovely in the longer hair! You could try cutting 2-3 inches off at first or adding some strategic layers for some springiness instead of a big chop? I think it's always best to try baby steps before a big leap.

I think it's a good idea to try a few long layers first. It should perk up your curls without losing all the length, and if you don't like it you can always go shorter.

I already have long layers...maybe ask for shorter ones? More of them?

I think your hair is great! But I understand what you are saying because I have been there in the past even tho I don't have those wonderful curls. I agree with others about trying some other options before cutting too much off. Do you have the means to check out a deva cut or anyone well experienced in cutting curls? By means I don't mean only money, but can you find someone who you think can really help you. My curly top daughter would love to try a deva stylist but we can not find anyone closer than a hundred miles. But your hair is wonderful and you might get out of the cutting notion by trying new up dos. Good luck!

I think you are quick to be influenced by other people's pictures (mainly celebs last time). This has happened before, with a cut you wanted at the time, right? But OTOH if your curls are "dragging" (yes they elongate with length) and you don't like it, then... you know... go for it. :)

^Yup, I'm very influenced by celebrities, mainly because they have great hair :P At this point I'm considering other ways to get my curls to perk up. Less product? More product? Shorter layers? Sleeping on them differently? I sleep with my hair in a scrunchie. I think there are more variables than length that I can manipulate. My mom suggested that I set my hair to get more volume. Maybe a perm on the grown?

I think the woman has a lovely cut, and I think your curls look better shorter so I'd probably chop if I were you. I disagree with those saying it looks like the girl in question has a lot of product in. Where?!

Hi there, Firstly, from what I see in your avatar and siggy your hair and curls are really gorgeous!
I agree with spidermom that your longer hair is flattering to your features moreso than that shorter hair cut would be. I also agree that the style would take a heck of alot of work to get even close to how the girl has it.

I think the girl in the pic has a different hair type than yours as well. Her hair looks to be coarser than yours. I believe her texture starts more from the root whereas you curls start a little bit lower. This makes a huge difference in a cut like that. As suggested if you feel you want more volume maybe get layers, but make sure theyre long. I realy do think you look lovely with your longer hair and if I were you Id definitely keep the length and work on enhancing curls other ways.
Im glad you posted and are giving it serious consideration because that cut would be a huge change.

This is definitely something to consider OP - I hadn't thought of that but it most definitely would make a difference to how similar to the woman's style your hair would look.

I believe you should keep your hair long. Your face shape is not like the other girl in the picture.

Maybe just some face framing layers would release a bit of weight around the front to give it more volume around your face if that is what you are looking for.

How short should I go in the front?

I am not really sure what I'd do because I can't really see your wave pattern in the front very well. Have you ever thought of finding a curly hair specialist to give you some ideas? Like a Deva salon or something like that?

^Definitely second turtlelover's suggestion ..a deva salon might be your best bet being one-stop-shop for learning how to enhance your curls and getting a cut that takes your curls into consideration. If it's in your budget-worth a shot !

It looks to me like you have a round face. It's a matter of opinion, of course, but the general advice is that you do NOT want to add volume around your face. You could benefit from some volume at the top, which could be accomplished https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DC3bN5EclXM or by doing similar sectioning but pushing the hair forward and pinning down to form a pouf, like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9Oi2iIvQgw. Recently I was very unhappy with my general appearance and was thinking about cutting my hair. Instead I spent several days visiting YouTube and searching "hair styles to flatter a square face". I learned a lot and feel much better about my hair and the way I look.
