These make fantastic accent braids that can be worn with hair down or incorporated into a complex updo or combined with other techniques for some serious wow factor.

The tutorial I used a couple of years ago appears to be gone, so if you guys could review what is out there and link what you like, that would be fantastic.

Yay thank you! OMG this one is challenging for me!!!!:rollin: Challenging in a sense that I personally feel like this style goes really well for people with 1a hair hair type. Hmmmm maybe fellow wurlies and curlies can inspire me to try it out. I have to also refresh my memory of this braid. I wonder if there is a creative version of combining this with a bun or some type of updo? Still, it's a pretty choice and I can see Neko garnishing this hairstyle with fall leaves and florals. ;-)

I found this tutorial (https://youtu.be/fx8G9Kh5EIg) and I think it shows it well.

I'm really curious what everybody will come up with. I'll try as well before the end of month.

That looks really pretty. It sort of seems like the reverse of a lace braid. I might have to try it later this month. I have a cocktail party to attend at the end of the month, and that might be a cool way to style my hair for that event. Thanks for the idea, neko_kawaii, and thank you for sharing the tutorial, Seventy7.

I don't like the right side as much, I think it would look better if I did the same thing on both sides.

Oh how pretty, TrapperCreekD! Can you give instructions on how you did that? That looks gorgeous.

Thanks!

Updo directions, mini novel-edition:

Part as desired and begin cascade braiding. The left side has about six sections and ends approximately in line with the back of the ear. I only did three turns on the right side but you could easily do more.

Separate your finished cascade braids from the rest of the hair. For the base, take the remaining hair and put up in your favorite bun. I used a nautilus but the possibilities are endless! Secure with weapon of choice.

Pick up the tails of your waterfall fall braids and and cross them at the back of your head. Wrap the braids around your bun, crossing at the top, until you run out of length. Pin as needed.

Working on the left side, take the first two dropped sections and loosely rope braid. Next, take the remaining sections and drape them across the back of your head. (Imagine the back of your head divided into three vertical sections) at approximately the right 1/3rd, separate the draped hair into three sections and loosely braid Wrap the braid.

Move the right side and braid the dropped sections in an english, rope, and english braid respectively. Battle braid the three braids together. Bring the braid over the top of the bun and wrap counter-clockwise. Finally, bring the rope braid back and cross the battle braid, wrapping clockwise.

velorutionista I think you are almost there, just try french braiding instead of dutch braiding :o

Thanks, Freesia! That hadn't even occurred to me! Dutch seems to be my fingers' default braid style, so that makes total sense!

These are all lovely. Can this be done on Bra Strap Length hair too? MY hair rather fine though but I think can do this one. I have sooooo many buns I need to try and attempt as well as different braiding styles too :)
