Now that my hair is getting long enough to tangle, I use a comb in the shower to detangle and distribute conditioner. However, my comb is an amazing japanese wooden comb my grandfather gave me years ago, and I wouldnt want to ruin it.

Will the water ruin the comb? Should i get a plastic one?

For use in the shower, I'd definitely look for a seamless plastic comb. It's alright to use a wooden comb on damp hair but soaking wet hair plus the shower stream itself could definitely cause problems.

I dont even have a wooden comb but i tried them, i prefer hard rubber which is a bit more resistant than plastic so the comb wont loose its shape and the tines are always super smooth.

Don't go soaking a wooden comb! It's terrible for the wood and the finish. It can stand a little dampness, but soaking water? No way. I'd get a plastic shower comb as others have already recommended. It doesn't have to cost a lot, at most about $10.

I had a lovely wooden brush in the shape of a hedgehog that was ruined by being soaked in water, the wood cracked. So no, I wouldn't take the risk if I were you.

I wouldn't get a wooden comb wet as wood gets damaged by water, but you could look into plastic or acrylic seamless combs. I just ordered the icy blue detailing comb from Eternally in Amber etsy. They also have shampoo combs and such :)

Dont get a wood comb to put in water. I have a horn comb which I love--that doesn't go in water either though. I also have a wood from the same people, for dry hair, which I love, but I love my horn comb better. Eternally in Amber does have the great acrylics for wet hair. I believe Madora (George Michael) does also.

I have a wooden comb that I use when showering, and indeed it is suffering.
I wouldn't recommend it if you don't want yours to get damaged

Yep, I agree with everyone, wooden combs are not meant for showers.

For shower, I'd either get a plastic comb and file down the seams or get something seamless, for example, by Hairsense (http://hairsense.com/combs/bone-combs/)(bakelite resin) or Eternally In Amber (https://www.etsy.com/shop/EternallyInAmber) (cellulose acetate) or Hercules-Sagemann (http://www.hotcombs.net/hercules-sagemann/) (vulcanized rubber or ebonite), etc...

The bone combx at hairsensense are beautiful! It even says they let off a good smell when wet and darken over time with use. I love that :)

actually other members say they have used horn combs on wet or damp hair, though brand seems to matter
