I just came across Frankenstein's pictures on the thread "Put your hair photos here 'cos you really want to..." and I decided to open this thread. I was planning to do it since a long time but I had no fun action shots to post so I was waiting to have one. Well, I still have none yet but these pictures are so nice that I thought I could open the thread already and come back to it later on anyway^^.

My proposition : to post pictures on which your hair is in movement : walk, run, jump, or brush, comb, etc. Swing it, flip it, turn around, etc. playing with wind, sun, light, cat, whatever makes it funny or beautiful.

... Working on it, working ! I just have to find a way to take a good picture with my timer, and it's not so easy : I am alone and either the battery is low (I have a very old camera and I run with two rechargeable batteries which are completely worn out and just keep a few pics before they are dead again^^) or I have to keep moving because those 10 seconds last for ever !!!! :bounce:

Actually trying to capture a pic out of a video but the image quality of the video is rather bad and I have not yet figured out how to isolate one image only. Grrrr ! :justy:

Haha, yeah, my hair is pretty heavy and doesn't move a lot! That's the best you're gonna get! Now I really want to know what hair hooping would be. :P

It might sound creepy but all these gorgeous photos make me want to run my fingers through all the beautiful hair... it looks so soft and silky in movement!

This may be a weird shot. I was taking a length photo earlier today (a video and then screenshot during it) and flipped my hair a couple times during it to get it to lay naturally and get an honest length shot. I never realized how high the ends flipped up! It looks so dramatic, but it was honestly not a big movement! Lol

Yeah! I love this photo because of this “flame effect”. Sadly my hair color is less vivid in real life. It was, probably, the direct sunlight effect.

It's a belly dancing veil. AspenSong has immense love for it too so I got her one last year after we did these pictures. I have another that is similar but different and they don't like each other it is so silly.

The yellow is a twin to a blue one that I wrote an adorable choreo with one of my favorite girls.

Yes I had a great time with a nice team of fasters^^. We went for a week of fasting to the French Brittanny coast. I like to do it at least once a year, for health reasons. It was terrible for my hair, though : I had the bad idea to wash it with a soap bar and I forgot the vinegar to rinse it out properly, so I staid 2 days with my hair all waxy and feeling awful, ha ha ha ha ! I should have taken an action shot by the sea with my hair looking like old seaweeds ! :lol:

This is a late reply, but that dog picture is a komondor. Their hair naturally grows like that and it contributes to them being great guard dogs. Wolves can't bite through the fur. They are the kings of hair action shots.

Oh thank you! :o

It is really simple, I basically just did a french rope braid on either side of my head, basically starting at the front and grabbing pieces from the back and twisting them in until I got to below my ear and ran out of pieces to grab. Then I twisted each side into one long twist and curled it up like a mini-cinnabun on each side of my head. I secured them with an elastic and did some housework etc for a few hours, and then took them out and finger combed!

I was so surprised with how they turned out because I have had mixed responses with heatless curls before. :happydance:

Thank you Sarah ! :) Do you know that I am a total fan of your combing videos ?? Seeing your silky fairness in slow motion on a dark background is a totally mesmerizing aesthetic delight ! :cloud9: :cloud9: so yeah... I kind of feel I want to do like you !! :D

Concerning the "capture" of isolated images from a video, I have not yet found any adequate way of achieving it. So I found a trick : I edit my video with iMovie (or whatever video editor you use) and I look at the interesting sequences image by image, until I find a nice one. And there I do a screen capture that I edit, resize and save with a photo editor (iPhoto and Gimp, in my case). To achieve a screen capture with a PC, just press the "print screen" key and paste the content in your photo editor. If you have a Mac, simultaneously press the keys cmd+ctrl+caps+4 (which changes your pointer into a selector) and then select the part of the image you want with the mouse. As soon as you unclick the mouse, the selection is memorized and you just have to paste it in your photo editor. :cool:

Thank you Sarah ! :) Do you know that I am a total fan of your combing videos ?? Seeing your silky fairness in slow motion on a dark background is a totally mesmerizing aesthetic delight ! :cloud9: :cloud9: so yeah... I kind of feel I want to do like you !! :D

Concerning the "capture" of isolated images from a video, I have not yet found any adequate way of achieving it. So I found a trick : I edit my video with iMovie (or whatever video editor you use) and I look at the interesting sequences image by image, until I find a nice one. And there I do a screen capture that I edit, resize and save with a photo editor (iPhoto and Gimp, in my case). To achieve a screen capture with a PC, just press the "print screen" key and paste the content in your photo editor. If you have a Mac, simultaneously press the keys cmd+ctrl+caps+4 (which changes your pointer into a selector) and then select the part of the image you want with the mouse. As soon as you unclick the mouse, the selection is memorized and you just have to paste it in your photo editor. :cool:

I have never used an editing program and failed miserably at even being able to upload a simple photo onto Gimp when I tried. I guess I'm just not tech savvy enough. The thought of doing all that is so intimidating. Geez, I only recently figured out how to email a video :) I wish I had a teacher who could show me all these things.

Thanks! It does feel like I was waiting for APL just yesterday! And my bun drops aren't wonderful, but I like the way it looks in motion anyway, so I finger combed it etc in the video as well.

I do dance with my hair down. And yes there are times of ooooh shiiii that's stuck in my coins/beads moments but generally they are few and far between. I also only wear it down when I perform or for pictures. I don't wear it down for fun or date night, it's generally up when I sleep.

I also made oil specifically for my hair that's all special and organic and insanity. There are a lot of deep treatments and my colors also technically are deep treatments. I also have a metric shiiiiton of hair.

How beautiful! I kind of like unusual hair colors, but I'd never be brave enough to do it myself. My sister-in-law just dyed her hair a gradient cotton candy pink and it looks so cool. =)

How do you capture a still from a video? I would love to be able to do that but don't know how.

Not sure if you've already been answered here, but the easiest way BY FAR is to play the video on your computer, pause it where you want, and take a screenshot. The screenshot will either be saved to the clipboard (meaning you can paste it into any photo-editing program, such as Paint, Photoshop, Gimp, etc... using Ctrl+v) or will open in its own window (if using a screenshot taking program such as Windows Snipping Tool).

You can crop the photo afterwards if you need to remove other things that were on the screen. :D If you need a ton of individual frames for some reason, you will have to put the video into an editing program that will allow you to take it apart frame-by-frame, but unfortunately I can't help much there.
