There are a lot of people who talk about not knowing how to respond in a situation where a person, or people, make a comment, or comments, that are offensive in one manner or another, therefore, I thought we could have a place to post our hair comeback's so everyone can use this thread as a reference. A lot of the comebacks are posted throughout many different threads and can be hard to find so I hope this thread makes things easier? :)

I will start:

OP. Why don't you get your hair cut so it has shape?

ME. My hair does get cut, by me, and has a U-Shape hemline.

OP. Why don't you cut it short so it frames your face: You would look so cute?

ME. Thanks for the suggestion, but my hair is exactly the way I like it.

OP.

ME. If you do not like my hair... mind your own business.

OP.

ME.

My hair isn't very long now, but I used to just tell people I have a severe allergy to scissors! :tmi: I think it is better to deflect the comments w/ some humor than let them get to you!

When I heard...."When was the last time you cut your hair?" --with any sarcasm, disdain, or disgust....

I would reply with. a question of my own..."When was the last time you brushed your teeth, because your breath smells like a trash dump!

...Then, I would calmly turn and walk away with a grin on my face.

I don't get many offensive comments, so I've never actually used this, but...

'What would you do if I cut it all off?'

'What would you do if I stuck pins in your eyes?'

:D But generally I prefer a more polite approach to ignorance.

I enjoy the good retort, but sometimes I regret upsetting people that aren't really meaning to be nasty!

Anyway, back on subject. This is a conversation I have mentioned before, but it's worth repeating.

Person I have never met: Young man, why is your hair in a ponytail?
Self: Because it's long.
Person ( a note of triumph creeping into her voice): And why is it long?
Self: So that I can wear it in a ponytail.

And I went on my way happy.

When people who have never grown their hair out say:
"You should really donate your hair to Locks of Love.."
"Well I like my hair the way it is, but if you care so much as to recruit others maybe you should spend 10 years growing out yours to donate instead :)"

Really, some people act like you should care so much about a sketchy organization when they aren't willing to do the same! It should be easier for them to do anyway, they don't even WANT their long hair, I do!!

Where's the "Me Too" button?

Nothing like circular logic to confound the non-believers.
