I found this on tumblr about hair, maybe some of you might be interested in reading: http://awakenedvibrations.com/post/123120332565/the-spiritual-nature-of-hair
I didn't read the whole thing, I just wanted to share this with you guys since it had hair mentioned in it. :)

Whoa, fascinating. I liked the part where he mentions that long hair leads to increased physical fitness and patience. Of course it does! :)

Not my cup of tea, a little too "floaty" and out there for me, but it's nice to read. Thanks for sharing! :)

I have no idea how they can wear the top-knot all day long, whenever I did a bun higher than the ear line, I ended up with a headache after just a couple of hours from the weight of the bun pressing on my head (and my hair isn't even THAT long, and on the low side of ii thickness)...
Maybe it takes getting used to? Would sure like to know what method they use to "train" their scalp / head to get accustomed to that hairstyle...

"He therefore required all women in the country to cut their hair and wear bangs, because he knew this would serve to keep them timid and more easily controlled".

This is true, from my own experience.
Since I've decided to grow my bangs out and wear them back I'm kinda stronger and don't let others control my life that much.
Instead of saying yes to everything, even when someone does me harm, I fight for my rights. Aloud (!).
I was surprised about myself when for the first time in my life an older workmate was unfair and hurtful to me I screamed (!) at her that it's not right to treat me like this because it's not my fault. Wow. I really feel that something changed and I feel stronger since I don't hide my forehead behind the mop. :)

There's not a single proven scientific fact in the entire article. Bangs don't block sunlight from your brain any more than your skin and skull already would. You can't heal split ends with almond oil and prayer. Hair doesn't suffer or lose anything when you cut it, and even when you're at terminal, at least some part of your hair is always shedding and growing, cutting doesn't affect that process or make you "lose" anything. I'm also VERY suspicious of how they talk about "long ago cultures" without naming any. That kind of stuff raises a big red flag for me because if you're telling the truth it's not hard to be specific look more credible.

There's a difference between "hair is a gift from God and it's important to show respect and love for God's gifts" (reasonable if you believe in a God) and "hair is a cosmic antenna and you will never be happy/healthy if you ever cut a single strand" (magical thinking).

I cut bangs recently and apparently that changed my whole personality! :D I'm now timid and easily controlled! Yeah... I call this :bs: for more than one reason.

Of course it's not proven. It's a spiritual way of thinking and it's for people who believe in magical, paranormal things. I do sometimes. :)

None of this makes any sense from a scientific standpoint. I think it is possible to recognize that while also seeing the value of spiritual thinking for those who believe it. This particular article isn't my cup of tea at all (it is pretty out there, even as spiritual things go), but I know, personally, I have spiritual beliefs that I also recognize are not proven or provable.

Exactly. I second that. That's what I meant. Nothing scientific, only for spiritualists. :)

Im a pretty spiritual person, however some points of this article just seem the subjective idea of a guru about hair. Sure hair does seem to have a good field around it and some other spiritual values depending on the part of the world, which in western society just sound nuts and pointless.

But Im not going to do unwanted things like a hurt top knot or not trimming regularly those thin ends on my unforgiven fine hair in order to keep my energy balanced.
Im good enough with a great meditation and positive affirmations.... with my hair down!!!! :p
...and hair is just part of the body, a gift sure, but the lack or the abudance of something terrenal doesnt make a person any less or more spiritual.
Its is all about the Awakening Conscious.
