So the last time I bought Hello Hydration conditioner I didn't really like it, plus I don't like the smell. However, when it first came out (ten years ago or so?), I thought it made my hair feel like silk and I would use it despite not liking the scent that much. I've suspected that the one sold in the EU might be a different formula, so I looked it up, and sure enough they are different.

Here are the Hello Hydration conditioner ingredients listed on the UK Boots website:

Aqua, Stearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetyl Alcohol, Bis-Aminopropyl Dimethicone, Parfum, Benzyl Alcohol, Dicetyldimonium Chloride, Isopropyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, Hexyl Cinnamal, Benzyl Salicylate, Limonene, Linalool, Magnesium Nitrate, Zea Mays Silk Extract, Orchis Mascula Flower Extract, Cocos Nucifera Fruit Extract, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, CI 42090, Magnesium Chloride, Methylisothiazolinone, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid

The American version:

Ingredients. Water , Stearyl Alcohol , Cyclopentasiloxane , Cetyl Alcohol , Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine , Dimethicone , Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract , Cocoa Nucifera Milk Fragrance Coconut , Glutamic Acid , Benzyl Alcohol , EDTA , Methylchloroisothiazolinone , Methylisothiazolinone , Citric Acid , Blue 1.

I wish I had an ingredient list for the original one when it first came out, but I think it's been changed and tweaked a few times. I wonder if it was similar to this EU current formula that people rave about?

I just bought a bottle here in Texas and the ingredients are different from what you have for the US listing.

They're always forever changing. :/ I'm still missing the original garnier triple nutrition. Have you tried this newer version of HH? I'm enjoying it, though I've only used it once so far.

Has anyone used the totally twisted gel or mousse? How well does it hold curls? Is it sticky? Any review would be helpful.

I haven't used it in a while, I'd have to look at the bottle to make sure it's not the one with Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine way up on the ingredient list. When that's used as a base I tend not to like conditioners or the way they feel as much. However my current Shine collection one has that ingredient further down and it isn't too bad.

p.s. I never did get to try that Triple Nutrition one everyone likes so much..

Last Saturday I tried a WCC. I used HE Long Term Relationship for the first C and Hello Hydration for the last C. I'm trying to reduce the clutter in my bathroom and use up the Long Term Relationship conditioner (I don't know why I bought that, my hair doesn't like so much protein, and the scent is so strong).
I thought my hair would get crunchy but it is still somewhat moisturized, didn't even have to spritz distilled water in the end of the day as usual. But the mixed scent of both conditioners was a bit much in the first day after the wash!

It feels nice so far and is working really well. I used it again last night and it is a miracle for my super tangle prone hair! It just works them out so quickly, and the texture of the conditioner is way different than I remember. It feels quite light yet hydrating and it weighs my hair down in a way that makes my hair look nice while down. I have the kind of hair that just clumps up and doesn't look nice down.

It was my favorite, I even loved the shampoo!!! It also worked well for my boyfriend who has the opposite hair of mine and my grandma who had thick and coarse hair.

I'm pretty sure the walgreens list I posted is the recent formula because I remember thinking the ingredient list was fairly short. I'll have to double check when I get home.

Oh my gosh, that was a long time ago! But I'll go have a look and see if I remember...

I don't know if it's going to be of that much use to you as the body envy gel has been discontinued I see... We don't have the HE gels where I live. Just the shampoos & conditioners. I think if the totally twisted doesn't have drying alcohols in it, it should be fine. And it looks to me like it's just *fine*!

These are the ingredients:
Water, PVP, Laureth 23, Lavandula Angustifolia Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract (Lavender), Jade Plant Extract (Crassula Argentea), Fragrance, Propylene Glycol, VP/Dimethylaminoethylmethacrylate Copolymer, Triisopropanolamine, Carbomer, Methylparaben, DMDM Hydantoin, PEG 12 Dimethicone, Propylparaben, Disodium EDTA

And here it is on naturallycurly.com:

Sundays is wash day for me which usually consist of shampoo, condition and deep condition. I was out with friends so I did it today. I recently started the roo( rinse out oil) method and love it. I bought the herbal essences naked cleansing conditioner last week. Did the roo with it, I am very impressed with this combination, it left my hair sooooo soft, can't stop petting it teehee. My wash day routine just got simpler! Its like I get the benefits of deep conditioning all in one shower session:cheer: now off to get a couple of more bottles of this product:)

I don't think the smooth and shine collections are going to be discontinued after all. I saw some new bottles with new caps, the caps are still green but with a silver band around them. I believe the ingredient list is the same as well.

I never get tangles after washing, but what I noticed today was that while I was fingercombing when it was almost dry it was even easier to get through. My hair looks smooth too. For this price..... that's amazing to me. I have to use it again to make sure but I guess this is what people call a holy grail product!

Yes it's my HG conditioner for a reason. It's been a while since I last used it as my 2nd conditioner in WCC, though, since I have all these Aldi argan oil hair masks to go through (they are equally as amazing, argan oil as the 3rd ingredient on the list and a short ingredients' list too). I have 4 more tubes of it to go and then I'm back to HE HH! :cheer:

It was lapushka's recommendation of HH that convinced me to try it last summer, it's good stuff! Now I've got the Big Bottle as my first conditioner in my CWC routine, and use HE's Long Term Commitment as my second conditioner. One of the things I've always loved about this site is the willingness to try and laud the cheap brands. I thought I'd have to spend tons to get really good hair products, but so appreciate the members here whose advice is always quite sound.

Why not? :) There are good things in the drugstore, that can compare and even beat high-end products.

I have to admit, I do love my Pantene, and my Herbal Essences, and yes they are not expensive, but they are not the cheapest out there either. I mean, you guys can get VO5, and Suave, we have a few store own brands here that are cheaper (but haven't found one yet that is good yet).

And we always have the "Action" discount store here where we can get HE HH 200ml for under €2.

Where on earth did you get that impression????? This thread has over 542 posts alone, not counting yours and mine.

Cones are GREAT stuff. Sulfates are great stuff. I love both. A lot of long hairs feel the same.

So I tried a few of the new bio renews since I last posted and just wanted to share that I'm not crazy about them. The green tea one made my hair shed, the grapefruit one was just so-so, but I do like the rosemary shampoo. The conditioners don't work for me, they remind me of the Wild Naturals, which I didn't like either. Something about the base ingredients that they use I don't like. But I'm pairing the rosemary shampoo with my Aveda Pure Abundance conditioner, and that's working out well.

Yes, where did you get that impression. It's YMMV on this site (your mileage may vary). Everybody does what they like for their hair. Some love silicones, some hate them. Some love sulfates, some hate them. It's a YMMV thing. Live and let live. ;)

I don't know.
I remember reading the first few posts on this thread a while ago and the majority complaints were about the cones. Maybe I misread.

Some people can't use cones on their hair because the hair does not respond well. It's very much like makeup. There brands of makeup one person can use and loves, but the other person cannot use because it makes their skin break out in acne or turns the skin red for being sensitive.

People who love cones and people who hate cones, from what I've seen, don't cross into each others threads in general. It's because it is dumb for the most part to say to someone who can't use something because it makes their hair bad something like "But you're wrong! Cones are great!" because they're not wrong where their hair is concerned. So if you go into one thread about cone-free stuff, or herbal washes, you're not going to hear the opinions of the people who like cones.

I dislike the sulfate-free stuff. My hair rebels when I try it. It's also got a steeper learning curve based on product--they generally don't lather as well. I despise shampoo bars, they seem to increase my hair fall, and are incredibly difficult to use. I don't bother with herb stuff because I'm lazy. And I like my sulfate products, so I stick with them. My hair likes them too.

Insofar as cone-free goes? I don't pay attention if the conditioner I buy is cone free or not. I know that most V05 conditioners are typically cone free, but I know the exceptions for the most part. I know that most name-brand conditioners unless they explicitly say on the bottle "no silicone", have cones. I buy and use what I want.

It lasts you a year? OMG Over here we can only normally buy the 200ml containers (unless they're at the discount store "Action", then they might have bigger containers as they often have products from abroad). I think my online store thinks I'm funny when I order about 10-20 of them at once when I'm out. I'm fully stocked up though as I have been using the Aldi hair mask (which is a good equivalent).

Yes, the amount of product in the US is vastly more. We get 250 ml / 200 ml of product of body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, etc. I am so envious of you guys and your large amounts. I wish we had that here!

I think i may be giving up my HEHH *tear*. It's simply not moisturizing enough for me. It has great slip for detangling but leaves my hair dry and coated when dry which is why I layer it. I think I may go back to trying Aussie Moist as it was a coney conditioner that moisturized my hair well and also provided great slip.

I realllllly wanted to love this conditioner, but it's just not for me I don't think. I still have a bottle of this to use up, but I don't think I'll be repurchasing. :/

I brought some 'old school Classic' HE Rose Hip moisturising shampoo and conditioner, it was half price and 400ml bottles so I thought why not! Its soo nice! I love the smell so much. I WCC and usually use two different conditioners but I just used this one twice, that was two days ago and my hair still smells amazing. Here's a photo so you can see which one I mean. I've been using that shampoo, it smells so good! It's a tad drying on me though, so I've been thinking of getting one of the Garnier Whole Blends ones, has anyone tried it? (...that is an Herbal Essences product, isn't it?)

I haven't used it personally, because I always look for rich, moisturizing conditioners (dry lengths), but it should be lighter, much much lighter.

I've used it. Since they changed the formulas a while back I'm not crazy about the base that they use, but if you like Hello Hydration conditioner the way it is now, Body Envy is a similar base, but a little lighter, and I happen to think it smells better (personal preference of course, but I like it).

I'll have to use it a few more times before I can really judge it but the first use was ok. There wasn't as much slip as I hoped for but it wasn't terrible. Since I washed my hair in the sink, I wasn't able to detangle with conditioner in it, that made it a bit tougher to comb out once I had towel dried.
My hair seems less frizzy but its still slightly damp so it could still frizz up on me. Hopefully this won't build up like the HH has been doing lately. Hair doesn't seem dry or rough so maybe its adds enough moisture. I'll know more tomorrow.

I'm very disappointed in the scent. In bottle it smells like a nice light orange but on the hair, it smells like chemical orange. Luckily, the scent doesn't stay in the hair at all, not the chemical or the orange. I really like a heavy scent that lingers so I will probably try adding a bit of orange essential oil, see if that hangs around for awhile.

This definitely is a better cond then the mint grapefruit from the new bio renew line, that stuff was garbage even though it smells great.

Obsidian, I HATE the mint grapefruit conditioner from the bio renew line. It doesn't do ANYTHING. I can't even shave with it. Aargh. The coconuty blue one works for me though. I still need another shampoo and conditioner, I have to cycle or my scalp get's fussy, and I SCC.

My hair has been a tangle weird feeling mess. I think it is the Green Tea shampoo that is causing it. So I'm not a fan of it either.

I've tried a few HE products the past few months, sadly my hair just doesn't like the brand.

I thought about trying the bio renew coconut but if its similar to HH, I don't really see the point. The body envy ended up not being enough so I mixed it with a little aussie mega moist and it seems to be decent now. The mega moist is way too heavy so mixing the two will at least let me use up two products that otherwise aren't very good on me.

anyone have recommendations for a lightweight cond with lots of slip?

The rosemary and grapefruit mint shampoos were okay, but I *hated* both the Green Tea shampoo and conditioner, I was surprised by how truly awful they were.

One that I absolutely love right now is the Beautiful Nutrition Detox conditioner, the one in the round tub. I didn't like the "cleaner longer" one in the tall bottle (too thick, didn't feel like you could rinse it all out) and was hesitant to try the detoxifying one, but they are quite different and I'm glad I did. It's a thinner conditioner, but not "cheapie" feeling. It has these lemon pieces in it, not densely packed or anything, but there's a few in there , which sounds weird, but I don't notice any ill effects from that or anything. But anyways, the conditioner is thin, but it disappears and detangles, and rinses clean. Makes my hair shiny too. I don't use that much, so the tub I got on Amazon for about $16 should last a while. They also have this clear lemon rinse that I like, sometimes I use it after the conditioner:

So I finished my bottle of Bio Renew Rosemary & Herbs shampoo that I bought several months ago when these first came out, and I won't be repurchasing. It cleaned okay, but the scent, which I liked at first, really started to get to me. It's this artificial sandalwood type of a scent, and it started to remind me of some of the recent Bath & Body Works scents (which I abhor, they put musk/ sandalwood into almost everything now). Also my hair shed more than usual when I used this too often, so I only used it once in a while until it was gone. Retro Smooth Collection is still my favorite, and I still have several bottle of Tea-light fully Clean, but that's no longer on the shelves in the States.

I just got some of the retro rose hips shampoo and conditioner. I don't use sulfates in most of my washes anymore, but I do still use them for clarifying, so I'm going to use the shampoo for that when my current clarifying shampoo runs out. The conditioner should be fine as my hair isn't too picky provided the conditioner is a bit coney. I'm mostly excited because they smell just as good as I remember. I opened the bottle to take a whiff and it took me straight back to 2004. So that's fun. :) Does anyone else who uses HE use these "old" products? I mostly see the newer lines talked about, so I'm curious.

I have a love/hate relationship with the retro. It's absolutely my favorite HE smell (partially because I love roses so much and partially because there's high school nostalgia there) and the smell lasts all day long. Unfortunately, my hair doesn't seem to respond particularly well to it, so when I use it I know I'm trading off a scent I love for having frizzy hair that day.

If they could just make the scent into a perfume, I'd buy it so fast! I've seen retro HE scents on Etsy, but apparently they're really retro, because when I ordered it, it was some green scent and not the rose.

Oh no!! I looked on their website and they do still seem to be making it. I certainly hope that they'll restock it in your area soon so that you don't lose access to your HG conditioner. Good luck!!

C_Bookworm, I'm hoping that the conditioner still works for me. I love the scent, it makes me so happy that they re-released these and the green/yellowish shampoo and conditioner now called the "Shine" collection. These two lines were my favorite from 2003/2004 until they discontinued them which was very sad.

renia22, thank you for the information about the perfume. I might check it out, but I generally find Victoria's Secret scents too sweet for my liking. That's okay though, I've found some body mists that work for me. :) I used Body Envy back in high school, but it's too harsh for me now. ^ I think pretty much all of them have been tweaked/ changed since they first came out. Some of the ones I don't like the changes they made (Hello Hydration- that conditioner was perfect for my hair when it first came out & now it's not good on my hair anymore). Body Envy is one of that I think they improved for the better, though. The last ones I got (maybe a year ago?), the scent was a little different, and not nearly as drying as it used to be. At least on my hair, anyways. Unfortunately Drama Clean is long gone, that was one of my favorites :(.

I’ve used this twice now (daily washer) and up to this point I’m happy with it.

Hair history:My hair is very soft, very slippery and considering it’s a baby fine 2a I don’t get many tangles. I also wear it up everyday so it holds on to its moisture levels. I don’t expect improvements on that so to my mind if my hair stays that way the conditioner is good.

I’ll use it for a week and if my hair’s still the same it’s a goer. I only need a week to see how my hair will react, so I’ll report back with my scientific findings!!!

I have wavy hair and use the HH quite often (might not be using it this week; stuff to use up) and it does not relax my waves in any way. At least I haven't noticed that. But that's just my experience. I have really dry ends and they just "drink up" moisture like you wouldn't believe. My roots are normal/oily though.

If it works like that every time... that's pretty dang handy if I ever want my hair straight! But I thought I'd get bun waves like I always do, and nope! I haven't seen my hair straight in a long time and it just showed off the imperfections: all the either broken or s&d's strands. I did take a photo. I should figure out how to post it from my phone.

I doubt myself and wonder if other factors didn't contribute like the change in the weather or slight variations in routine. But I went back to my old conditioner (Loreal smooth intense ultimate straight, btw) and it could hold a wave again, so I don't think it can just be the weather.

So I didn’t like the Bio Renew products that I tried when these first came out, but they have a few new ones out, and I like this Blue Ginger one. It comes in shampoo, conditioner, foam conditioner and dry shampoo. I have the shampoo & foam conditioner and like them both. They say the scent is ginger blossom, floral bouquet and musk, but to me it’s a unisex/ sea berry type of a scent? It smells better on the hair than in the bottle. Good stuff:

They say the scent is ginger blossom, floral bouquet and musk, but to me it’s a unisex/ sea berry type of a scent? It smells better on the hair than in the bottle. Good stuff:

I seen this too and I smelled it but ya it smelled too berry I didn't like it at all. I don't like generic smells.

Aren't Micellar shampoos a gentler type of clarifying shampoo? I keep hearing that they can be drying.

Does anyone else use Long Term Relationship?
I've used the shampoo for years. I always used Suave conditioner but recently grabbed Long Term Relationship conditioner when I needed shampoo so I've been using that instead of the Suave.
I love it. My hair is so soft and even the ends are moisturized.

littlestarface- I passed it up a few times because I didn’t like the smell in the bottle either, but it ends up being much softer smelling on the hair. :)

nycelle- yes, they are supposed to be more gentle clarifying. This and the Pantene both have sulfates so I don’t know if you would like them. I personally don’t find them to be drying or too clarifying, but just right- I like them both a lot.

Bought the Bio renew charcoal shampoo and conditioner today. Excited to try it. Everything has been weighing my hair down and making it greasy lately, so hoping this doesn't. It's silicone free, so that's a plus for me, since my hair doesn't like cones for some weird reason.

I sure did. The birch one had a clean/ fresh type of a scent. The honey one was a little over the top artificial “honey” scented, but probably good for those who like that type of smell.

Beside my tea-lightfully clean, that I do really like. What's another good herbal essense shampoo that feels nice on the scalp. I dont wanna use the tea light fully more than once a week because it's a clarifying shampoo... I'm wondering if theres another good HE shampoo that'll make my scalp feel great. I think i have a pretty normal scalp, it's not oily or too dry. Maybe it's a bit dry but nothing serious where I would need to use a medicated shampoo or anything. Anyone reccomend any HE shampoo that would just be nice to use once or twice a week? Other than my tea light fully. I seem to really like HE. Preferably one with no silicones in the shampoo.

I can't find exact info about silicone quaternium-26 in particular, but according to the Scienc-y Hair Blog, silicone quaterniums 16, 18 and 22 are polymer-type silicones like amodimethicone and bis-aminopropyl dimethicone and thus they do not build up on themselves. I don't know if 26 is drastically different from those, but without any other info, I'd probably go by the assumption that it's very similar to those. To my understanding, it is water insoluble.

Unfortunately, I will be taking a break from Hello Hydration. I have developed a sudden, strange case of rash in many places on my body and the first suspect, as it is probably the strongest allergen in the products I use, is methylisothiazolinone, which, of my products, is only found in HH. The rash appears as red spots (not necessarily bumpy) that are mildly itchy. So far I haven't seen it on my scalp nor is my scalp itchy, but it appears in different spots on my body: wrists, next to armpits on the front side and between my thighs. It always flares up after I wash my hair (and I've used HH a lot recently). I have used HH a lot longer than the rash has been around, but maybe it has to do with me washing my hair every 2 days now rather than 3, and I leave my conditioners on for quite a long time.

Anyway, time will tell if it goes away during my HH break. I will probably be seeing a doctor about it at some point anyway. I have taken photos of the rash.

OMG that's terrible! Maybe try putting a little bit of HH on your wrist as a patch test, see how you fare, to make sure. It will be something you can bring to the doctor as proof of "it's something in that product"!

I think first I will see if the rash subsides when I retire HH for now. Then, without a rash base, I will try to get it back "under controlled circumstances". I will go through each product I've used lately.

I can see it's no longer flaring though. Much calmer now. It's soon been 24 hours since I washed my hair again - this is the pattern I spotted earlier, too. Should be easy enough to test by eliminating products!

I'm going to have to try that if I can find it. What color is the bottle/what does it look like?

The last time I was in the USA I bought a couple of hello hydration bottles to bring back with me. I tried out the biorenew coconut milk conditioner also, but it's not the same. It works well enough on my lengths, but I have an extra curly and dry patch that really only the old HH formula works well on. The biorenew has aloe in it, which HH does not, and it's just liquidier in general. I love the thick gloopy texture of HH.

It looks like this, enting. I linked Amazon dot com and dot uk dot co, because that seemed the most international. The rest of the pages I found were Dutch or Belgian, and I did look for "Elvive". In Belgium it's called Elsève.

So I washed my hair out of curiosity, and oh wow what a feeling! I was hoping these would be good, but they are better. The conditioner is amazing, I need just a little bit. And what a slip. The shampoo felt good too. Generally I don't like the idea of cones in shampoo, but so many shampoos have them. And, if it works, it's not an issue, I rotate my products and so. But this was a very pleasant hair washing experience. My hair is almost dry now, and it feels good, it's soft and there's no tangles.

Has anyone tested these HE bio:renew masks? I only spotted this (https://www.superdrug.com/Hair/Hair-Treatments/Hair-Masks/Herbal-Essences-bio%3Arenew-Argan-Oil-Repair-Hair-Mask-250ml/p/782494#pdp__details) just now.

I’ve seen them around but they had the same ingredients and consistency (at least for the coconut milk range) as the conditioner so I skipped, because it was a bit expensive...

Yeah, I also noticed the ingredients are the same, but probably more concentrated. It's quite typical for masks vs. regular conditioners in the same line.

Has anyone use Hello Hydration conditioner as a leave-in? My hair is feeling and looking so great after using it as a second C... I wonder how it works without washing off too!

This stuff is soooo good, someone stop me from ordering 18 more bottles

I certainly wouldn't. It contains methyl(chloro)isothiazolinone which is banned in Europe from use in leave-in products.

Uh oh, I definitely use HH as a leave in. Maybe I should do some more research. It's the only thing that makes my hair and scalp happy when they're feeling dry and itchy between washes, and I leave some in after showering, too.

ETA:
It seems it's a sensitizer and neurotoxic in vitro, but there's no sign of it being neurotoxic in vivo in spite of many tests. I can see how a governing body might want to be careful about that. I'm not sure what I want to do about it - it sounds like as long as I don't ingest it I should be fine, and it does appear to have low skin penetration. Hm.

I just know I am terribly allergic to it myself. It gives me a nasty rash. And I'm far from being the only one, it's a well-known allergen.

I see that in the research. I hope I don't become sensitive to it, so far it's the thing that helps best with my itchy scalp and it has never given me a rash. It's in my head and shoulders shampoo also, though I always make sure to wash that out quite thoroughly. I'm actually more concerned about the behentrimonium chloride as that looks like it's an eye irritant, and I have been having a lot of eye dryness problems....

I picked these up today! I wanted to see what a sulfate shampoo and coney conditioner does for my hair. My roots get greasy too fast and my hair has been tangling too much with my current stuff despite being moisturized. It's just not as effective with my water being different. I tried to integrate the products into my current routine as seamlessly as possible. My initial impression is a good one. My hair had more volume today and it's less tangly. I wish it was a little more moisturizing but I think I used too much shampoo and not enough conditioner. My regular shampoo doesn't have sulfates so I have to use a lot of it to be effective. I also used less oil in my ROO so I'm not sure if it's technique adjustment or simply the wrong product for my hair. Looks like time and experimentation will tell  Either way though, I'm excited to see how it turns out :D

Edit: I forgot to add that my hair feels more flexible especially when wet. I'm pretty sure it's the cones.

Sadly I can't seem to find anywhere that stocks it in person. There's a few places selling it online for a high cost, but even that's spread thin. I'm in the US. I hope it's not getting discontinued

You did buy a hydrating shampoo (moisturizing), and so if you have oily hair, that's usually not the best option. In my case, at least. I usually pick out the ones that say "volume" (those are the most stripping) or "for oily hair".

Good luck, though!

I also have oily scalp but mostly use "moisturising" shampoos. I find that it's more about how I wash my scalp rather than exactly what kind of shampoo I wash it with. It matters more for the lengths in my case. So it can work either way. :)

I was really surprised by this, it's a relatively new line so I wasn't expecting a whole collection to be MIA. I'm happy with the Coconut Milk line so far but the Deep Sea Minerals sounded promising. Damn them! Of all the ones I wanted to try the most lol.

My lengths are quite dry but my scalp is oily - or at least it was before I started using sulfates again. Plus I don't dare to put any kind of conditioner above my ear, otherwise I'd have enough oil to fuel a small country ;) When I first joined I was still using shampoo bars and now I realize that I had no chance of making those work lol. Then it was my old routine which worked a lot better but less than ideal with my new water quality, and now it's sulfates and cones. It's been a long journey back! :jestor: I keep saying "Wow this works great!" then two weeks later I've done something different  I'll stop eventually, I swear!

So I received an add in the mail this week (included coupons of course) for Herbal Essences. It seems they have officially changed their bottles! Very good news as the ones from before, Hello Hydration and such, couldn't be recycled as they were colored plastic. All the bottles now are like the BioRenew/Smooth ones with the little cap on the top. It looks like the bottles themselves are clear. I doubt the formulas changed at all but if anyone is worried they should buy extra now. I'll look for the new bottles today when I go to the store.

Unfortunately, the add had a symbol for PETA on it... disgusting. I'm not sure how their PR team thought that was okay. It seems they were so into changing the bottles that they forgot to look at PETA's bloody history. I kinda don't feel comfortable buying HE if they are directly supporting PETA in any way. But I'll wait til I can read they bottles myself before I make any decisions.

I just found out that HE is adding tactile markers to their shampoos and conditioners!
https://www.premiumbeautynews.com/en/herbal-essences-expands-tactile,15702
It's marketed toward blind or vision impaired people, but I'm personally really excited about it just because I usually keep my eyes closed in the shower to keep water and shampoo out of them. (Ok I also wear glasses and can't see as well in the shower, but I can still read bottles without glasses.)

Okay I finally tried HH again after like 5 years and I love it. I really didn't think I would. I was just looking for a conditioner without glycerin because I've been using Dove but the air has gotten so dry here thats it's causing velcro tangles and crispy ends. Dazzling Shine... I wonder if they replaced it with Moroccan My Shine?

Dazzling Shine is actually a no-silicone volumizing formula.

I think anything with Moroccan in it is more hydrating, oily. No? Reminds me of Moroccan oil, argan oil... that kind of thing.

I mean yes, they both have "shine" in the title, but I don't think that has to mean anything. :)

We got recently Herbal Essences here in Sweden and I'm really tempted to give something a try. Might be the White Grapefruit and Mosa Mint Shampoo.
Lapushka, I've been meaning to ask for a while- is Pantene Aqua Light discontinued in Belgium? I was reading some reviews on Pantene and then I discovered that Pantene Micellar has exactly the same ingredients. I compared them meticulously and they are identical. They just gave it another name:D

It appears to be. One store still had it though (Delhaize). I'm not sure if they still carry it now, but should I run out, that is where I'm going to go look. So I'm unsure, it doesn't appear to be discontinued, but only one store appears to have it. And one that we normally don't shop at as well.

Since my Walmart has several of the HE Bio renew lines on clearance, I decided to give them a try. I bought the Rosemary and Herbs shampoo, the Strawberry and Sweet Mint conditioner, the Coffee Fruit conditioner, and the Charcoal conditioner. (With a coupon, I got the last two conditioners for 50 cents each.)

I really expected these to be better products than the 88 cent Vo5 I've been using. But they've really not impressed me at all. I love the scent of the Strawberry conditioner best, but it leaves my fine hair so flat and somewhat stringy no matter how little amount of product I use. In fact, I get these same results from all three of the conditioners. I got the best results from the silicone-free Charcoal cond, but it too left my hair kind of flat and stringy.

And truthfully, I get better lather from my old faithful, Vo5 Strawberries and Cream than I did from the HE Rosemary shampoo. So, I guess I've not been missing much by sticking with my Vo5.

I think my hair must just have cheap taste. :)

I don't know what's going on with the Herbal Essences products at my local Walmart, but as I mentioned in my last post, they've clearanced a lot of the Bio renew line. Now they've got these new 2 in 1's. But they're not the normal shampoo/conditioners. Instead, they're shampoo/bath washes.

They've got them in Body Envy, Totally Twisted, and Hello Hydration. The ones I looked at had dimethicone in them. They are 11.7 oz. bottles for $3.99.

They also have a 3 in 1 in Hello Hydration. It is a shampoo/bath wash/hair moisturizer. Here's the info and ingredients for this one from Walmart's site:

Herbal Essences Hello Hydration 3IN1 Shampoo Conditioner Body Wash, Moisture for Hair 29.2 fl oz:
3-IN-1: Get the convenience of a shampoo, conditioner, and body wash all in one bottle
DEEP MOISTURE FOR HAIR: Cleanse your body and Hydrate your hair with this moisture-rich, color safe & pH balanced formula
DERMATOLOGIST TESTED: This 3-IN-1 was tested by experts to be safe on skin so you can enjoy the same great scent on your hair and body wash!
MINDFULLY CREATED: Paraben free, mineral oil free, dermatologist tested and certified cruelty free by PETA
REVEL IN LUSH AROMAS: Scented with creamy notes of coconut essences

Ingredients:
Ingredients: Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Glycol Distearate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Chloride, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Zea Mays (Corn) Silk Extract, Orchis Mascula Flower Extract, Fragrance, Cocamide MEA, Sodium Xylenesulfonate, Dimethicone, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid, Tetrasodium EDTA, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Polyquaternium-6, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Blue 1

I went to the HE website and didn't see anything about this new line mentioned.

I don't think I'll be trying these on my fine, oily-prone hair or my dry, itch-prone body.

Anyone else have any experience or thoughts on these new products?. I'm anxious to hear what others think about these.

The-Young-Maid

Huh. I wonder why they feel the need to do 2 or 3 in ones like that. They'd make more money keeping them separate. I guess the body washes did super poorly?(Yes they had those for a while). I accidentally bought a Hello Hydration "Hair + Body Wash" instead of conditioner. The bottle even claimed to condition... but the first ingredient was a sulfate. Like bruh no way. AND both of them are in exactly the same bottles(29.2oz pumps), the only difference is the tiny green bar. I took it back to exchange.

This is also a new, smaller size than the previous bottle which was like 35oz maybe. It is cheaper $5.99 vs $6.~~ At least they changed the bottles tho. None of the solid color ones were recyclable(few places process colored plastic). So they finally changed to clear plastic.

I really like the label on the new bottles. Half of it looks like photos and the rest is done in watercolor. I appreciate the art.

Ugh.
I'm almost out of my shampoo (HE Long Term Relationship), which I have used for years. I went to Wal-Mart yesterday, where I always buy it, and they have changed the entire shampoo and conditioner aisle.
They don't have Long Term Relationship anymore. I hope this doesn't mean it's discontinued, but I fear it does.
I'm going to check Target and drug stores before I truly worry, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to switch my shampoo and conditioner and as a creature of habit I hate to think of it.
Do any of you know if they've discontinued LTR?

The bulk of their response,

"Thanks for getting in touch with Herbal Essences. I'm so happy to hear about how much you enjoy using our products. I'm sorry about the trouble you've been having finding our Long Term Relationship. I'm very happy to let you know that this product is still available, it has not been discontinued.

If you are having a hard time finding this at your local retailers I would suggest speaking with a manager and asking them to get this product put back on the shelf. Generally when you show a demand for a product they will make it available for you to purchase.

If you could please reply back to this email with your full mailing address we would be happy to see if there is anything more we can do.

Thanks again for reaching out, we look forward to your reply."

Long Term Relationship is going strong.

I figured that was the case. I bet my store in particular just rearranged their hair care display and maybe hasn't ordered LTR yet. Walmart always has everything, but I only do that trip monthly so I have to make due with whatever is at my local grocery or Target. I'm tempted to order online from somewhere like Target but they don't have the variety Walmart does.(LTR isn't available at all) I'm also a little weary about ordering liquids online because they could bust open en route.*This is how I talk myself out of ordering an obscene amount of hair products online lol

I wonder if my Wal-Mart would be responsive if I asked them to bring back LTR. I didn't look at the prices of the new HE they have instead but my guess is that they're more expensive. LTR was very affordable and that's part of why I like it.

Yeah, I'll check them all. Surely someone still has it. Tomorrow night is wash night so I guess I'll make it my mission tomorrow to find it.

This is starting to sound like me & my quest for Pantene Aqua Light shampoo. Only one store in my entire town still has it. It's like a needle in a haystack.

Well, I checked Target and they don't have any of the old kind either. I still want to check some other stores, but I couldn't go anywhere else today and couldn't come home with nothing since I definitely need to wash tonight.
So I smelled a few things and ended up with a Cucumber thing. Hopefully it doesn't make my hair fall out or something. I chose it purely on smell.

I understand your frustration. I don't have a clue with what's going on with Herbal Essences.

I hope the Cucumber version works for you.

Thanks, sillyme.
I emailed Wal-Mart and got an email back today, saying basically how they decide which products to carry (customer demand and whatnot) and that they would forward my comments to the appropriate people. Best I can hope for, I guess.

I'm glad they at least acknowledged your email. That's more than I've ever gotten from them.

Did you try the Cucumber yet? I would love to hear what you think about it. It smelled so good when I sniffed it in the store. :)

Yeah, I was surprised. Even if it comes to nothing, at least they heard my complaint.

I tried it last night! My hair smells amazing and otherwise seems to be basically the same. So that's good.

I went to my Walmart today and didn't find any LTR there either :/

The Pantene and Suave sections look a bit larger, but the selection of everything else looked a tad slim.

bio:renew Replenish white charcoal wasn't even on my cone free radar but today I was doing what I do and picking up products off the shelves - even the ones I knew were coney and reading the ingredients and I came across it. I didn't snag it but maybe next time. What are the thoughts and opinions on it?

I tried the White Charcoal conditioner but it left my fine hair stringy and it didn't detangle very well. But you can't really judge it by my picky hair because I've yet to find a conditioner that my hair does like. This one smelled good though. :)

I love the scent of Herbal Essences shampoos and conditioners, but the last time I used it my face developed a rash. I could only trace it back to that shampoo and conditioner. So, I had to stop using it. Now, I'm afraid to use any of their other products.

It was probably the preservatives, methylisothiazolinone and methylchloroisothiazolinone. They give me a rash, too.

I tried it when it first came out, but something in it irritated my scalp, so my husband used it up. If it wasn’t for that, I think I would have liked it. The scent was nice.

Today I picked up this shampoo & conditioner. Haven’t tried them yet:

Hmm, it says "hair + body wash"... I don't know about combo products like these, especially for hair.

I actually have a certain body wash that I'm really tempted to use on my scalp. :) It's basically the same stuff. Hair products tend to contain more film formers and anti-static ingredients, but those can easily be implemented into 2-in-1s.

Hmm. For my hair that would be a no-no, though. I don't know about everyone else. :hmm:

I just tried the shampoo and conditioner, and they were both nice on my fine hair. Honestly I think it’s just marketing, the shampoo ingredients look the same as any of their other shampoos. At first I was worried it might be drying, but it wasn’t at all. It cleaned my hair well without tangling, and I needed very little of the conditioner. The scent is nice too, I was so sick of everything I have in my stash that I’ve been working on using up. It’s nice to have something different.

These are the shampoo ingredients:

It looks really nice! Well, apart from the preservatives, for me personally. :D

Oh yeah! I tried one of these bio:renew shampoos for the first time last wash. I totally forgot. It was the bourbon and honey one... I think. Just throwing that out of my head. I think one like that exists! During the wash, my hair felt really stripped, but the dry end result was very nice. I'm going to be using this one sparingly as an ultimate clarifyer.

Are all the bio:renew ones clear? That's my main gripe with the cucumber one. It's hard to see how much I have in my hand. (No glasses and poor lighting in the shower.)

The one I have is creamy.
