My 3rd Hairiversary!!! :)

Wow, here we are again - the years really are flying by!

First I will give you a bit of hair history....

This is my hair when I joined TLHC:

I used a brown dye on my hair, though only a few months later I tried growing out the dye:

I really hated the harsh and ugly demarcation though and went back to the dye once again. I then figured that if I allowed the brown dye to fade maybe I could begin dying my hair more of a blonde colour, because transitioning to grey would probably be easier than from a dark brown:

I thought the blonde looked much better and more so as the old brown dye faded even more:

The following month to six weeks (March 2013) I had a major stress shed which lowered my circumference by just under an inch (from a marriage break up):

I was devastated but decided to keep growing because long thinner hair was still better than short thinner hair in my book.
The blonde continued making its way down my back and I began the attempt to transition once again. This time it worked much better, so that today this is how my demarcation looks:

But, you came here for the main event, which is a record of my growth over the last three years, so without more ado, here it is:

A year later it was 29.5"

After two years' growth it was 33" - I had done some large-ish trims:

Now at my third anniversary it is just touching on 40". I have been micro trimming since the beginning of this year. At the start of the year it was 36.5".
As you can see, the darker coloured hair on my ends is the remainder of the dark brown dyed hair (now much faded) which I had when I first joined TLHC. Those ends are thinner than they should be due to my large shed in 2013.

So, in total, between 2012 and now I have grown 20". I have not included the amounts of hair I have trimmed during that time, as I don't keep records of it.

My ends are messy at the moment but I am concentrating on gaining length between now and October, when I hope that the GM salon in NY will give me a wonderful trim and get my ends looking the way they should.

Meteor, that was my favourite style at APL - it's so elegant and different, too.

You put your hair in a looped ponytail (where you don't pull the tail all the way through). You divide the loop into 4 parts, and hold them against the head using hair sticks which go against your scalp behind the elastic. That's it - so simple. Unfortunately I think my hair is much too long for that style now. I did love it so much!

Growing out of styles you used to love is one downside of growing longer hair :(

Your hair looks beautiful, and that gentle "reversed ombre" color shift down the length looks so good, the idea of slowly going from brown through blond to silver really was a great one :)
