View Full Version : My 3rd Hairiversary!!! :)

June 29th, 2015, 03:33 AM
Wow, here we are again - the years really are flying by!

First I will give you a bit of hair history....

This is my hair when I joined TLHC:

I used a brown dye on my hair, though only a few months later I tried growing out the dye:

I really hated the harsh and ugly demarcation though and went back to the dye once again. I then figured that if I allowed the brown dye to fade maybe I could begin dying my hair more of a blonde colour, because transitioning to grey would probably be easier than from a dark brown:

I thought the blonde looked much better and more so as the old brown dye faded even more:

The following month to six weeks (March 2013) I had a major stress shed which lowered my circumference by just under an inch (from a marriage break up):

I was devastated but decided to keep growing because long thinner hair was still better than short thinner hair in my book.
The blonde continued making its way down my back and I began the attempt to transition once again. This time it worked much better, so that today this is how my demarcation looks:

Along the way I found many updos I loved....

All I can think is, I'm glad your greys grew out so nicely, and I'm sorry about the breakup.

June 29th, 2015, 04:27 AM
congrats on your hairiversary! Your hair looks beautiful and I admire you for rocking your natural color. I hope mine looks as good sometime in the future :-)

June 29th, 2015, 04:41 AM

...And so many others, but I have to say that these have been my favourites...

June 29th, 2015, 05:16 AM
But, you came here for the main event, which is a record of my growth over the last three years, so without more ado, here it is:

My hair was at 20 inches when I first joined, according to my records. http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh582/Sarahlabyrinth/myhairphotos.jpg

A year later it was 29.5"

After two years' growth it was 33" - I had done some large-ish trims:

Now at my third anniversary it is just touching on 40". I have been micro trimming since the beginning of this year. At the start of the year it was 36.5".
As you can see, the darker coloured hair on my ends is the remainder of the dark brown dyed hair (now much faded) which I had when I first joined TLHC. Those ends are thinner than they should be due to my large shed in 2013.

So, in total, between 2012 and now I have grown 20". I have not included the amounts of hair I have trimmed during that time, as I don't keep records of it.

The bottom of my shirt is Classic.

Hope you have enjoyed my Hairiversary thread! :)

Thank you for sharing your progress picture (amazing journaling and dedication)! Those bun styles are to die for, especially the flowery add-ins!!!! I think you made the best decision when you ditched the brown dye, as the silvery blonde color is beautiful on you :) Your hair must grow amazingly fast, 3 years and almost classic!!!!

June 29th, 2015, 02:32 PM
Wow... SO wonderful.
Thank your for this post.
I've made a blog post about my 3 months anniversary on LHC 30 minutes ago and have found your thread now.
You motivate and inspire me so much and you give me strength to withstand the criticism from people who say that when you are over 30 you can't have very long hair.
Thank you so much for this post!
I'll definitely show it to every moron who tells me to cut my hair back because I'm over 30.

And I LOVE your hair flowers. I have many too. :)

You have a YT channel? WHERE?

June 29th, 2015, 03:31 PM
Wow, thank you all for your kind comments! :) I guess my hair has grown fast, but it still feels slow.

My ends are messy at the moment but I am concentrating on gaining length between now and October, when I hope that the GM salon in NY will give me a wonderful trim and get my ends looking the way they should.

Wusel, just look for SarahlabyrinthLHC on You Tube and you should find me ;)... I must go and read your blog post:)

Meteor, that was my favourite style at APL - it's so elegant and different, too.

You put your hair in a looped ponytail (where you don't pull the tail all the way through). You divide the loop into 4 parts, and hold them against the head using hair sticks which go against your scalp behind the elastic. That's it - so simple. Unfortunately I think my hair is much too long for that style now. I did love it so much!

Growing out of styles you used to love is one downside of growing longer hair :(

June 29th, 2015, 03:35 PM
Happy anniversary! Thanks for the slide show, flowers look fantastic in your hair!

Thanks a lot for sharing how to do this style! :applause It's so gorgeous! :crush: And yes, I totally agree: losing ability to do certain hairstyles is quite a downside. Fortunately, new styles become doable at new lengths, too! :D

Thanks so much, again! :flowers:

Thanks, all of you! I'm glad you enjoyed my collection of photos. It took me about 3 hours to do. My computer is playing up - really slow and every move I make, error messages...:( I think I will have to take it in to the computer man and have him sort it out for me.

I feel honoured that I can be an inspiration for anyone.

Like everyone else, love love LOVE the updos with the hair flowers. So pretty, so feminine. They just make me sigh. There's something about adding a flower that has such a soft, graceful effect.

July 2nd, 2015, 11:41 AM
Congrats on your 3rd annivhairsary, Sarah ! :flower:

I don't know what I could add to all the nice comments without repeating, lol. Maybe to say that I'm totally amazed about your growth speed and hair quality : how is it possible to grow out so much dyed hair in so short a time, and how is it possible that the remaining of it has become almost invisible ??? And how is it possible to keep such an amazing quality of hair after two successive dyings ??? Your hair looks like it's virgin from scalp to ends !...

Lol. Magic hair !!! :magic: :D :D :D

Many thanks for sharing all these wonderful pics, Sarah ! Your hair is a dream !...

July 6th, 2015, 09:37 AM
Happy Hair-anniversary! :cheer: Your hair is looking lovely as always.

July 6th, 2015, 10:43 AM
Happy Hairniversary! :D
Your hair looks beautiful, and that gentle "reversed ombre" color shift down the length looks so good, the idea of slowly going from brown through blond to silver really was a great one :)
