The day before wash day, I applied jbco to my scalp and anything left over went on my length. That was left overnight in a braid. When the bext day came, I was in a hurry to go to work so instead of being careful not to wet my ends, a scalp wash, I decided to just wet my whole hair, only washing with diluted shampoo my scalp. I left my braid alone. I didn't condition or washed it. Once dried, i brought down my hair and it felt lovely. It was still coated in jbco but you couldn't tell by looking at it, you could just barely feel it. I'm wondering who else has done this. ..

Me too! :hifive: I do this, and I LOVE it!

I do everything in braids now: sleep, wash, sports, daily wear...

When I wash my whole hair, I like to leave it in 4 braids (2 smaller ones in the front, 2 chunkier ones in the back). I braid loosely only from chin/shoulder down to leave lots of space for my hands to reach all scalp. I use diluted shampoo to help it reach all scalp faster and I get much better results this way.

When I wash my scalp only, I keep hair in a braided bun first and wash just the front (hairline to temples and crown area), in the shower or just sink. I cover bun with a shower cap and use diluted shampoo. Then I take down the bun (keeping the braid), hold the braid up above me with one hand (rolling up the braid because it's long) and I wash the back and sides of the scalp in the shower. It takes just a couple minutes and gives me very clean scalp when my hair doesn't need to be washed (it's naturally dry-ish).

I find this idea VERY interesting and I really want to try it now. Ive been wondering lately if it would be possible to only wash my scalp like I used to only wash my bangs... apparently it is!

Oh yes! :agree: Absolutely!

I must leave you a few links for this :) :

1) partial scalp-only wash with hair bunned by LauraLongLocks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaJEtR19ZP0 (I think this is best as an alternative for dry shampoo or for washing bangs/hairline)

2) full scalp-only wash with hair braided (and kept under shirt) by Haartraumfrisuren: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwREj8Kadlo (from 1:30)

Also, we have a couple threads that are really helpful:
On braided washes: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=129718
On scalp only washes: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=119848
There are lots of other threads on scalp-only wash techniques, but this one is the most recent one.

I should note that this is probably particularly useful for hair that is long, thick, multi-textured, tangle-prone, or on the dry side.
