It seems that all of the popular brands like Widu, Bass and The Body Shop brushes actually have bamboo bristles, not wood. The only one I found was the Fripac-Medis Natural Line made of maple wood for both the body and bristles, but I could only find it on Amazon UK that wouldn't ship to the US, and Amazon Germany where shipping cost more than the product itsellf. Where do you buy your real wood brushes in the US?

I have the extra large paddle brush from WIDU. It has a wooden base and wooden bristles. I LOVE it.

P.S. I guess I stated it incorrectly. The base the bristles are set in is rubber. The handle and back of the brush are wooden, as are the bristles.

The Earth Therapeutics Brush is a wooden brush with a rubber base. I bought a few in the past. You can find them in stores like Ross, Marshalls, and T.J. Maxx. Here is how it looks like on Amazon:

I've seen Tek Wooden Brushes at T.J. Maxx, too.

Thanks so much for the replies! To those that asked what's wrong with bamboo, I don't believe there's anything wrong with it. However, I have heard in several places that wood distributes oils better than bamboo which is actually a plant. I personally would prefer wood for that reason, and because I think I would prefer the weight and sturdiness of a wood brush. My bamboo one feels a bit flimsy sometimes, but it might just be bad quality!

Thanks for the links! The ETB is actually bamboo if you look in the customer Q&A section, but the Tek brush seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. Yay!

EDIT: I've been presented with the same problem I faced with the German line. The Tek brushes are made in Italy and shipping costs more than the brush and I just can't justify spending $70 on a hair brush. :(

FYI, the Widu brushes have hornbeam bristles... all except the "longer length" bristles, which are bamboo. I have a Widu on the way!

ETA: the only reason I have one coming is that I was able to haggle on Ebay and get it for $25 WITH free shipping. Score!

Try looking in major discount clothing stores. I see them from time to time.
