Hi enfuite, my theory on how I'd create that is:

1. put hair in pony tail where you want the bun to be
2. separate hair into 3 'chunks'
3. wrap middle hair around the base of the pony tail to create the middle horizontal section
4. Use bobbypins to secure the other two sections down in the back and side (a bit away from the pony tail) to create the two side arches/semi-donut shapes. If you didn't mind teasing hair you could tease the two side chunks first, or use dry shampoo to create more volume. But in the picture you've shown it doesn't look like they did anything so drastic.
5. done!! :D

At least that's how I think it could be created.... interested to see if anyone else has any ideas. :)

I would put my hair in a ponytail, but not pull it all the way through, to make a "loop". Then I would just pin the ends around the elastic to hide it. Maybe some extra pins here and there to make the loop/bun sit right:)

Well, my advice would depend on the length of your hair. The model looks to have quite short hair - maybe shoulder length? - because you can see the ends are sticking up a bit on the model's right side. That being said, she most likely slicked her hair into a high ponytail, probably having curled the ends to give it volume and shape, then just sectioned out one portion to wrap around and hide the tie.

Now, depending on the length of your hair, you have a few options to achieve a similar look. If your hair is anywhere between shoulder and BSL, you'll have to fiabia recommended with the ponytail not being pulled through all the way to achieve that "loop", then using bobby pins and clips to keep it where you want it. If your hair is longer than BSL, that's where it might get a bit more complicated. You can certainly do the same ponytail/loop, but you're going to either have a significantly larger bun or quite a long tail to wrap around the base. Either way with longer hair, you're going to be using quite a few pins to achieve the same look.
