As some of you might know, back in February, I posted about how my hair had taken a nosedive in terms of length and health. Since moving to the UK, my hemline thinned out horribly and I lost length.
(Here's the thread for those interested: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=129808

Well, I wanted to give a quick update, as it's been a few months. I got such wonderful support, it's only right to let you all know how things have been going.

I have fully resumed my daily EVOO oiling habit and night CO-washes. I use Nighblooming's TMO every night on my sleep braid tassel to help my ends and also occasionally a few drops all over, if I plan to wear my hair loose the next day. I do a chelating wash about once a month, or whenever I feel like my hair needs it. I think the biggest, most beneficial change was getting a shower filter. I can tell it's working, as I don't have to clean the limescale from my shower nearly as often as before! :)

So without further ado, photos.

This was my original photo, showing my straggly, thin hemline:

Taken in March (nice to have a calendar so handy! :D), after I trimmed back the ends:

Taken this morning, last day of May:

Since we tend to be our own worst critics, I'm hoping you lovely folks can give me some feedback. It looks like it's growing, but I can't quite tell. Maybe I need to get a striped shirt for this!

I'm so glad you wrote an update, I often wonder how people are doing when there is no followup from them.

ETA: Now the photo is showing!

Looks like progress from the original photos! It has grown! Have you been microtrimming? I think that would help your hemline too, so the thickness could catch up faster!

Oh good! :o I was worried there for a moment!

Well, that's encouraging. I know it's only been a few months, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to get a progress shot before I completely forgot. Chances are, I won't take another for quite long time, unless I feel like the length is getting bad again.

ETA: No, I haven't been microtrimming. I'm afraid I'm not really sure how you do that. It's a miracle that I managed to do Feye's method in the first place. I'm not very confident when it comes to cutting my own hair, but I don't want to risk a salon.

Hi, I can see it's grown and is much improved since your original post. Good work :hifive:

I also think you'd benefit from a period of microtrimming. You can use feye's method and just take a off a small amount each month. I'm growing out layers so take 1/4 of an inch each month, so I still gain half my growth but will get a thicker hemline too. There is a micro trimming and maintaining thread you could rake a look at, it has some really inspiring photos of improvement in people's hair.

Keya,

Your hair looks somuch healthier now. I'm sure it will continue to improve. May I ask how you found a good shower filter? I have lived in a very hard water area in England for most of my life, but didn't realise that this might not be good for my hair. It makes my skin itch terribly though. I have found shower filters that remove chlorine, but they don't seem to mention hard water. I use a water filter jug for my drinking water, but the kettle still gets full of chalk, so either it's not that effective, or the water here is really bad.

Hope to see more pictures, as your hair improves. You must be so relieved, now you have found a treatment plan that works for you.
