Mine used to be stick straight but are tending towards wavy/curly more often now; I quite like the softness they add and feel quite stark if they're greasy enough (or long enough) to lay down. They also have a habit of disappearing in pics because they're mostly so fine and light

Most of mine wave/curl, even those that stick out. None of them seem to be straight straight. The sticky out ones just wave a little, then stick out xD When they start laying flatter, I usually get nice little spirals.

I prefer no wispies, to be honest. It makes me look like a dandelion half the time.

Edit: And the rest of the time, they want to poke me in the eye or go into my nose.

I have horns too! It's nice to know I'm not the only one. Every time I try a sleek hairstyle, they stick out. Sometimes they do this little round curl, which I think is cute, but usually they stick straight out or up. I don't think they've ever heard of gravity. I bobby pin them down sometimes, but they always seem to escape, so I mostly just leave them alone.

Mine are mostly located at my temples. As if those "patches" are too short to reach back into the bun. LOL! And they've gone considerably gray now too. I think it's cute. :p

I do have wispies all around but most are by my temples too.

I have wavy/curly hair and i just accept it. I've never not had little baby hairs curling around my head. A long while ago before i stopped dying and using heat on my hair i would straighten them to give myself wispy bangs so i wouldn't have to actually commit to bangs. HAHAH

Hot and humid with rain thunderstorms today. Just look at the wispies

(Though to be honest this is only slightly crazier than the usual party going on)

I have so many wispies around my temples and also in the back, too. My aunt actually made fun of them last weekend and asked if i did it on purpose.... >_>
I think since they are all getting to be around 5 or 6 inches long, that they are mostly regrowth after a major shed/ hair loss event about a year ago. Hopefully in the next year or so I can start fitting more of them in my buns because they look kind of silly right now!

If I had curly hair, I would like the wispies. My hair is board straight, and wispies just look very unkempt. I do my best to slick them down.

I got through my last round of new crown growth fairly well with my BBB and a spritz of hairspray.
That in turn gave me renewed thickness at my right temple :joy:

At the time I noticed that my left side didn't fill in as well, but the new growth has been continuous and is slowly getting thicker.
However....it now leaves me with one side sleek and the other looks like I have my finger in a light socket :p
AND my silver is now so curly that BBB/hairspray doesn't hold well....and gels are too heavy

So....I am wearing my hair much looser these days (even with buns and ponytails) so that the new growth blends visually with the length more (vs a 'halo')...and that works 'ok'.

If I catch my image and my wispies are wild, I just repeat t myself "It iS growing....forget how it looks"....and walk away LOL :flower:

It is a NON ISSUE for me now

UPDATE 8/27/18
The wispiness seems to come in cycles @ my temples, and my BBB WET BRUSH works great at blending them in without any product .
They tend to grow fast and can be shaped into tendrils until they are caught in my hairstyles.
I just go BOHO as I always have wispies from new growth from crown to hemline that cannot be tamed into defined curls.

Why fight it?!

It is almost a year later than the last update...and I am doing very well with my wispies; both temples have filled in nicely. :)

A change in hair products (more oils in my shampoos/conditioners and use of serums) has helped to define my wurls and tamed my crown wispies.

It is also a habit now to use this mixed BBB brush (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000I82POI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1) to slick back wispies after I style my hair, and no hairspray has been used since last Summer/my last post :wannabe:
The brush has very firm bristles so it grabs my wispies and blends them into my scalp hair nicely; plus it has the pick handle which I use to add lift/volume to my crown after styling.

Whatever wispies that may pop up with wind or humidity is just quickly finger combed back into place and I am perfectly at peace with my hair now :meditate:

Once you embrace it as new growth it becomes easier, because they do grow out and blend in pretty fast....and you are gaining, not losing :cheer:

I'll be curious to see how you like the Miracle leave in; not sure how often I will be using it...it will depend on the look/feel I get from it.

Thanks. I'm going to give the Biosilk a try!

I did try the 17 Miracle and I like it!

It absorbs more easily than the serums which need to be worked into your hair/skin.

It has a nice botanical fragrance, and this may be my 'go to' styling product for quick fresh ups (wispies or n=bun wurls).

I am waiting for the coconut shampoo :mail: so far I love the whole line

Good luck :cheer:

I am a recovering product junkie :o
It took me buy surprise when I became hooked on the oil mixture in Neutrogena Triple Moisture and was curious to buy a few similar brands to try ;)

But I am settling on Neutrogena and Biosilk because they tame my wispies the best, and actually give my wurls more structure (especially having wispy new growth that curls from top to hemline lol)

Oh my goodness the little baby whispies are everywhere at the moment! I think they must be a wave of regrowth from seasonal, maybe surgical also, shedding. They are at that length where all they want to do is stand straight up, and are all over my head! Bless’em.

It's quite contained still, so soon after washing, but as the week progresses they just pop out more and more. Oh well. ;)

Mask hair. Mask hair is THE WORST. Nothing pulls out all my little wispy bits faster.

I hate my wispies, they're awful... they're not even wispies, they're shreds.

Unfortunately, because pulling hair back into a bun also makes me look bald from the front, with the wispies I look like Riff Raff (https://i.pinimg.com/originals/3a/33/af/3a33af0242d608839ec8b3268e79939f.png)...

I’ve always had them. I switch between embracing them and trying to cut in a few tendrils to make it look purposeful vs. trying to grow them out/hide them. One January 1 I cut face framing tendril in again and I’m embracing them. I like how they soften up the look of updos and braids.

My attempts at growing out wispiness have never been particularly successful. The hair around the edges just seems to have a shorter terminal length, despite my best efforts.

I always assumed that, barring the use of product to force them to stay down, everyone had wispies!
When I draw hair, I like to explicitly include them, similar to Cassandra Calin's (http://cassandracalin.com/comics.html) style:

New growth is exciting! I have a little patch up front too... it looks like new growth as opposed to breakage. I don’t remember losing that much hair but I suppose I *was* shedding pretty bad a few months back. Not sure why... could be stress, post surgical hair loss, or maybe from some weight loss over the past year (unintentional, but about 15 pounds, which I attribute to being neurotic at the beginning of the shut down)

Those are all lovely. I am swamped in them as we speak, even out of my bun. Aaargh! :justy:

Why? Because this lady here couldn't use gel on her hair, because I just had to try and use the "Quench!" leave-in from Aunt Jackie's and I know that fights with anything that you put on top of it. And I thought, well a leave-in will be enough. Guess again. Never realized how much my gel actually contained the layers in my bun. Until now. <sigh> ;)

Oohhh this is definitely my club too! With the fine and thin hair I have, they get so lightweight especially when the temperature drops under -10 celsius. Right now I have a lot of new growth in my nape area, and since I like high buns, they are always just... in the air on their own. :D

Now that I'm starting a salt spray experiment once a week (I'm going to sprat just the scalp area) I'm hoping the longer hair would "elevate" a little bit so that the wispies in my forehead won't be so obvious. We'll see. :)

I get the hair, I truly do. Mine were completely fuzzy on the side and nape area!

In all (ok, some) seriousness, I hadn’t even left the apartment yet when I took that photo. There had been no wind and it was just combed!

I have them near my temples and near my ears. Also some along the back of my neck. I just live with them most of the time. There is not much I can do with my straight wispes. Love them because it is showing growth for me! :heartbeat:heartbeat

You look lovely :) I can definitely relate to the little curly wispies look, unless I use bobby pins or hair clips I get a fuzzy little halo within a couple of hours of leaving the house :P

That's a great example of wispies at their best. They're cute and they contribute to a look that is uniquely 'you'!

Yeah, those are really cute and what wispies are "meant" to be.

Mine? Decidedly not cute. They wouldn't be cute even if I were cute myself.

I love having freshly-washed hair, but UGH it makes the wispies worse... and they're already bad enough.

Ah, the combination of masks and traveling (I don’t like the on-the-ear style of mask, but I fear my preferred around-the-head has contributed to my halo!)

Oh yes. Mine are horrifying (and then sometimes my mask ties slip forward and push the hair into weird front poofs). I try to remember to wear a headband that the ties of my mask can rub against instead...

Reviving this thread from another post.

And I add a freshly taken photo of my braided nautilus bun.

My nape is full of wispies that can’t be tucked if my bun is higher than my ears lol

My head is full of newly emerged hairs sticking up because with minoxidil, LLLT, exercise, protein, vitamin, and massage, my severe hair loss (cancer-fighting stress, long-time hospitalization, sleep deprivation, malnutrition, chaotic hormone… etc) is diminishing so I am in love with those baby hairs that celebrate my recovery. My hairline doesn’t look like Mickey Mouse’s M shape anymore, it’s become a half moon.

Some of them has reached my shoulders already. It’s over half a year’s effort. That’s why my pony circumference went from 9.3cm in March to 10cm in late July. I will probably be a full iii by next year.

I went through it in early puberty, yes, never lose hope! I was thankful my issues resolved after about a year, but still as a 13 year old that is not something you wish upon anyone. I had 3 bald spots, of which one was quite major (over an inch in diameter). Yeah... It is tough to deal with. I sympathize with anyone going through major hair loss.

I have those baby hairs that never seem to get long enough to put into a bun, especially a high bun, which I
wear most often. So I am either spraying it stiff or putting in a comb in the back.
Clearly see whispies here.

Wow, I've not caught up on this thread for ages - brilliant wispies examples everyone! Wish I'd taken a photo with my crochet braid while my roots were drying from a scalp wash; a crochet braid always slips down and your second photo reminded me of it squirrrel

Don't worry because with a fork that gorgeous no one will notice anything else! Wow, I love your hair fork!

Oh wow I totally missed this, thank you  it's a trusty MapleBurl, my hair loves them and I'm really feeling his absence on Etsy right now.

Ylva! Awesome, isn't it. LOL. I get these just like that and sometimes they just plainly stick out, no rhyme or reason to it. I think all you can do is accept it, otherwise buns are going to be very difficult. ;)

This is the club for me, haha. These days I've been gelling down my baby hairs because it's just easier to deal with that way on a daily basis, but I will sometimes finger coil them and style separately. For a long time I thought I was experiencing severe breakage, but I've since noticed that I've always had these from the time I was a kid, and that it's normal. :)

Thanks, I was muddling around with my hair straightened over the holidays and noticed that my wispies, while not suitable for proper society that day, made an EXCELLENT accessory to my low-budget cosplay

I was definitely a cute kid, but once I hit puberty I went through a ROUGH ugly-duckling stage that lasted until I was about 25 haha. Not realising the wispies were normal until after covid certainly didn't help, but I've learned to accept them now. :flower:
