View Full Version : How do you number your washing schedule?

This occured to me the other day. I think some of us count their wash days differently or maybe I'm just weird.
I personally count my days like that: (wash day), day 1, day 2, day 3.... but I came across various websites that lable the day after wash day as day 2.
Edit: As most of you have already pointed out it matters when you wash your hair so I wanted to add that I wash my hair in the morning.

It depends if I wash it int he morning or in the afternoon! Right now, since my hair was washed last thursday after school (i went to get a trim), I consider that I am day 6. (Wed), so I'm not counting on the day of washing.. Though I could, since I went out that night..

I don't number the days, I just count how many days (as in a 24-hour cycle) it's been since I washed with shampoo. That way it's always accurate. But oftentimes I don't count (or I forget when last time was), and I just wash when I notice some greasiness.

I count the same way. I was actually thinking of asking this at some point, since I realized that some people count differently. For example, when I read or hear "you can do this hairstyle on 2nd day hair", it probably implies the day after wash day, although that one is first day for me.

Great question. I've been struggling with how to number the days. I usually wash in the evening because I work 3rd shift, but I go based on 24hours since the washing. Been numbering it Wash day, day 1, day 2 then repeat.

I go wash day, then day 1, 2. Wash day is Sunday, so Monday is day 1, through to 7, which is wash day again. Perfect. :)

I don't count as I go, but I look back in 24-hour increments. Example, it's Thursday and I washed on Sunday. So I count back Wed = 1, Tue =2, Mon = 3, Sun = 4; I washed 4 days ago.

It depends on if I washed at night or in the morning. If it was morning, I consider the next day as day 2. if it was at night, then the day after is day 1.

I have always considered wash day as day 1, so the day afterwards will be day 2... but as others say, if you wash your hair in the evening, I would consider day 1 the day afterwards.
I don't wash my hair on the evening anymore, so my wash day will always be day 1 already.

Each time I think about it I seem to come to a different solution
I wash in the evening mostly which makes the washday the "greasy day"... then day 1. If I wash in the morning the wash day is the clean day, so next day is day 2. At least that's what I think I think.. :ponder: I will just go with :gobblecheese:

I think of wash day as day 1, because that is fresh, clean, 'perfect' hair. Probably since my hair is wavy/curly, it only curls nicely on wash day; meaning, once I sleep on it, I count it as day 2. So even if I wash at night, the next morning is day 2 hair.
Although, since I started NW/SO experiments, I stop counting after 3

Once I have slept, it's a new day. So it's day 2, even though I usually wash in the evening or late afternoon.
I don't count past day 3 though; after that it's "not dirty yet" day for a couple of days, maybe a "it's dirty, I really need to wash it" day, then wash day again.

Wow, I never really thought about that before, but you're right, most websites do count it as "wash day, day 2, etc.". Like I've seen a few other suggest, I guess it depends on the time of day you wash your hair. Since I always wash it at night, I don't count a full day until the next night, but I also don't really try to get a certain number of days between washes, I just typically average 1-2 times per week.

Wash day, day 1, etc. Probably because I tend to wash my hair at night so the next day seems more like my first day. If I washed it in the mornings, "wash day, day 2, etc" might make more sense to me. :)

I wash in the evening so I count the morning after as "day 1".

I don't count in numbers, I just wash every Monday and that's it. It's a simple routine for me.

Wash day, day 1, etc. I generally wash day 3 or 4 and usually wash in the evenings but if it's the weekend sometimes in the morning. Either way I still count days the same.

I answered option 1: since I generally wash at night, I consider the next day as day 1.
On the rare occasion I wash in the morning/daytime, wash day is day 1, I guess.

This. Plus I think in a 24-hours circle so when I wash my hair in the afternoon day 2 would be the next afternoon. :)

Yep, that's how I do it as well. I usually wash in evening or late afternoon.

Since i mostly wash before going to bed, the day after when i wake up is always day 1 for me.
Once a week as a guideline probably leaves less room for interpretation in my case.

I wash my hair every Sunday, so I just observe my hair with the days of the week.

Nah, there is no Day 0 for me, especially as I might wash my hair at the end of the day, and have it dry by morning.

I am mostly NW/SO except in hot summer when I might be WO. I do rinse my scalp in summer every now and then, but hardly ever wash or wet the length. If I get something really icky in my hair I will pour extremely diluted something (shampoo if there is some here, dish soap if there is not) over my hair and let it run down the length.
When I was young I do not think this would have worked, for I was a grease-ball and regularly got little zit places along my hairline, ick ick ick.

I don't count the days...I just randomly will wash my hair when my scalp feels like it needs it, which is usually once or twice a week and oftentimes varies what day of the week (so for example, one day my scalp may feel it is ready for washing on Friday, then another time on Thursday or Wednesday), so I don't really keep track of exact days or times.

Wash day is Day 0, and then it's 1 day, 2, 3 etc since it's last been washed.

I count wash day, day 2, etc., but that's because I view wash day as the first day of the new cycle, even if I don't wash until the evening (it varies on what my hair wants). Mostly, though, I don't count at all, since I always wash on Saturdays when I've got access to good quality water.

I wash my hair in the late afternoon or evening so "wash day" is the day my hair is it's greasiest up until I wash it. I then count the next day as day 1.
But when I see someone refer to "2nd day hair" I assume they mean the day after wash day.

I don't really count the days. I refer to it as "the day after I washed my hair", "the 2nd day after I washed my hair", or "it's been # many days since I washed my hair." I suppose I consider the day after I washed my hair day 1, if I'm going to count. (The day I wash my hair consists of it drying, so it doesn't really count to me.)
