Hi there!
I'll attend a wedding on Friday where wearing a hat or fascinator is required (the groom is half british).
Well I have a lovely fascinator (kinda do it yourself one :) ) and it is on a headband. The thing is, I have to make sure that it stays where it should.

I'm going to wear a dutch or english braid with it and want to hide the headband a little bit.

I thought about using Bobby Pins to clip the headband on? But how can I manage to "hide" it under my hair? First headband, then combin hair over it and then braiding?

Picture of the fascinator will follow :)

Thanks!

This is what the headband is like:

And this is the fascinator ;) Will wear the Tulip FOTM with it, perfect fit :)

My first thought would be to wrap sections of hair around it, like for headband curls. You probably wouldn't need big sections to hide it, since the headband is so skinny.

Thanks for that suggestion!
Actually I tried this out at few minutes ago :D The hiding works quite well but I'm not sure if the headband will stay on its place :/

Those stretchy headbands can be so difficult! Sometimes I am able to French braid around them. I section off my face framing hair and carefuly move the headband behind it and French braid it in place. I am not sure if that is what you were already planning to do.
Is it possible to remove the felt backing around the headband with a knife? You could replace the headband with a hair clip for the day if it won't damage it.

Does the headband have teeth? If yes, I would probably do as you describe (put headband on then do hair). If not, I'd put it in last.

Edit: Didn't see the pics before posting - I didn't realize the band was continuous. You can't put that in after, LOL. Not if you value comfort, anyway. I'd do it the way you described, or cut the band off and pin it separately.

Here's what I would do, put the headband on with a good section of hair on each side left in the front. Ten drag this hair back over the band and braid like usual

I'd cut the headband off and put the fascinator onto a clip or bobby pin.

I'd cut the headband off and put the fascinator onto a clip or bobby pin.

That's what I would do too. :agree:
And it would prevent any headaches from the headband (I always get those, personally).

If you use bobby pins and/or wrap hair to secure it, spray on some hair spray on the hair and the bobby pins for better hold - it makes a big difference.

Also the trick for better hold with bobby pins is to use them wavy side down (i.e. wavy side goes along scalp hair, straight side stays on top), it gives better grip to the pin. :)

Thank you all!
I decided, after all, to cut the headband off. It was from the Dollarstore so it's ok :D

I usually do not wear headbands because I think they are uncomfortable. What a stupid idea to wear it on an hours long event where you should look good :D

I tried to do it like cat11 suggested and it was ok, but I was not feeling "safe" You know that feeling when you think every second your hair will be a mess/fall down etc? ;)

So I have now a crocodile clip (like that (http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/1/3/0/2/4/3/6/webimg/600735415_o.jpg?nc=735)) and I will just clip that thing on. Don't know why I wanted it to be a headband anyway! :D

Thanks you all again!

If you're interested I'll post a pic after Friday :)
