Hey guys I was wondering if any of you have any experience with henna on highlighted hair?

My hair is dark brown and has a few blonde highlights in it. I have hennaed before when my hair did not have any highlights, and I really want to henna again now, but I'm scared that the highlighted parts might turn orange?

If you guys have pictures you could post or just tell me your experience with this, I would be very happy :)

My mom's white hairs showed up bright copper after henna treatments when she was doing them, so yeah, your highlights are gonna look more orangey-ginger-red than the rest of your hair. It also depends on how long you leave the treatment on: longer gives a deeper colour, less time gives less colour, because Henna takes a long time to give its pigments to the hair.

Thank you ! :) My highlights are honey colored, maybe a tiny bit on the copper side already ... I guess the henna might enhance the copper color then..

Being the impatient person that I am, I could not wait till my highlights have all grown out, so I'm currently sitting with henna in my hair, and hoping that the color won't turn out too orange on the highlighted parts! I took some before pictures, and I will post the before and after here when I'm done incase anyone is interested to see, and possibly learn from my mistake if it turns out bad :p

It will start copper orange but after multiple applications it will darken up. My hair is bleached on the ends and I have cherry cola henna ombre

I'm happy with the results, it did not turn as orange as I thought it would, or it became a different shade of orange that I was afraid it would, and I actually think my hair looks nicer with the henna color :D

The copper instead of blonde looks really good, it blends into the hair gorgeously. Well done!

I don't even know what that means? What is it exactly that I have to do ? :) Thanks for letting me know by the way! :D

I've been hennaing many times before, but this was the first time on highlighted hair. The previous times my mom helped me, so this time was my first time doing it by myself. But I can't remember her mentioning anything specific that I had to do after I hennaed.. :s

It will darken possibly as the oxygen in the air reacts with the henna

aha ok, as my hair is dark, I previously have not noticed it darkening, but I have noticed the color becoming a little less visible after a few washes, but it will be interesting to see how it will become on the highlights, I like the color as it is, so Im hoping it will stay this way, or maybe lose a tad bit of its orange-ness if anything.

It's much prettier than the blonde. It almost didn't change your own color - I like that!

Thank you so much!! :D I have to say that I agree, I feel like it kind of made my hair look more lively, and yeah it usually doesn't show so well on my own hair, only in the sun you will see a tinted red color, so yeay so happy I did this! :cheer:

Wow, I think even if the highlighted bits are *technically* more orange now, they *look* less orange because they don't contrast so harshly with the rest of your hair. It looks great!

I hope that works and isn't huge. That's plain henna on brown hair with blonde highlights.

Looks lovely!! :D I guess my hair is darker than yours, as you may see in the pictures I posted, so I won't achieve so much color on my entire hair, but Im happy with what it did to my highlights :D
