Hi guys!! I got locked out of my account for months (my own stupid fault) and it was terrible but the fabulous Gumball just sorted it out for me so I can post again, yay!! I've been lurking but I missed being a proper part of the forum so much!!I thought I would celebrate my triumphant return with some anniversary pics :D
Here's my hair in March 2013. I had discovered LHC but wasn't yet a member. I'd shaved my head in 2012, then been growing out a pixie, and this was right after I had my mullet cut off for the last time and decided to get growing!

Damn, some of those layers were short. Anyway, here I am in March 2014. I'd done one at-home trim of about half an inch in that time:

I was juuuust starting to (finally!) get out of the awkward phase, but I was only just at shoulder.
And here's my hair today! Once again, I've done about a half-inch at-home trim since last year. I'm not anti-trim; I would have trimmed more if I felt I needed to, but it didn't seem necessary:

I'm super happy with my progress this year!! I feel like a non-LHCer might actually describe me as having long hair!!
Some thoughts: I'm not at BSL yet but it's definitely within sight. The extra length = extra weight, so the canopy is straighter now, but I'm stoked that I've managed to maintain my flippy waves through the length. This is totally thanks to advice I've found on this forum. Last time it was this long I thought it was straight and frizzy. Wrong!! I'm also pleased I haven't seen too much tapering. I fully believe this is due to the fact that this hair has basically never been heat-styled.
Current routine: CWC. I was CO for months and really happy with it, but I developed horrible dandruff and nothing would get it gone but a medicated shampoo. So what I do now is condition through the length of my dry hair, before shampooing with a mix of conditioner and the medicated shampoo. I work this in really well with my fingertips as I love a scalp massage! But I only apply it to the scalp. I rinse, and then condition the length again with a slightly heaver conditioner (I am still completely cone-free), detangle with my TT, and rinse a final time. Sometimes I add a lemon rinse. I squeeze out excess water, headbang back and forth a little to loosen everything up, wrap my hair in a microfibre turbie, then take it down when I'm ready and scrunch some Panacea through the length. I flip it back and leave it alone until it dries, then put it up. That's it. I wash every 3-4 days. I'm still loving forks...haven't quite got the hang of sticks yet!!
Things I have learned: as my hair grows, I'm finding I can't get away without detangling dry anymore. I used to be able to just detangle it in the shower, and done. Now I really do need to detangle every other day or so or I get horrible tangles...I use my fingers and a wide-toothed comb. I also can't really do a straight peacock twist anymore as the tail flops everywhere, so I tend towards a cinnabun as I don't quite have the length for anything fancier. Sometimes a LWB. Also, my hair does best if I pay attention while washing it (as above) but then ignore it the rest of the time. I believe the professionals call this benign neglect. I've had friends ask me what I do to my hair and when I tell them I don't brush it or use heat, ever, they look horrified and say, 'Oh, but I HAVE to do x/y/z to my hair...' I used to think that too, but the proof is in two years of LHC pudding ;)
Anyhoo, I'm really happy to be back, and looking forward to catching up with everyone! As always, I'm extremely grateful for all the help and advice to be found here. LHC is the best!!
