Has anyone tried these ingredients with success? It is hard to find a hair serum that is silicone free, but they do exist. I would love to make my own hair serum that is fragrance free by using silicone alternatives. However, bamboo extract comes in liquid form in a glycerin base (glycerin is a humectant which isn't good for colder dry climates) and wonder if bamboo extract in powder form can somehow be dissolved into a homemade hair smoothing serum. Through my searches I've come across the following silicone and quaternary free hair serums/oils for hair smoothing but none are fragrance free:

Human Nature Smoothing Hair Serum: caprylic/capric triglyceride (coconut derived), dicaprylyl ether (vegetable derived), Helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, Glycine soja (soybean) oil, ethyl alcohol (sugarcane derived), Brassica oleracea italica (broccoli) seed oil, fragrance (all natural), glyceryl caprylate (coconut, palm and glycerine derived)

U R Curly Hair Serum: Propylene Glycol Dibenzoate, Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer, Diheptyl Succinate, Crambe Abyssinica (Abyssinian) Seed Oil, DMDM Hydantoin, Fragrance, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate

Live Clean Exotic Silk Keratin Oil: Website doesn't list its ingredients, but it is on the box and product. Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer , Diheptyl Succinate is the first ingredient and is supposed to behave a bit like silicone without the buildup.

Redken Diamond Oil Shine Intense: Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil/Sunflower Seed Oil, Isopropyl Myristate, Olea Europaea Oil/Olive Fruit Oil, Octyldodecanol, Simmondsia Chinensis Oil/Jojoba Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera Oil/Coconut Oil, Parfum/Fragrance, Camelina Sativa Oil/Camelina Sativa Seed Oil, Coriandrum Sativum Oil/Coriander Seed Oil, Prunus Armeniaca Kernel Oil/Apricot Kernel Oil, Tocopherol, Linalool, Citronellol, Limonene, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde [From what I've read, sunflower seed oil is a 'drying' oil.]
