So I recently got a job at a group home, and a lot of the little girls are running around with giant massive tangleball heads that make bedtime or shampooing a nightmare. I've been trying to braid and bun their hair when I can (I've given braids nicknames to make them sit still. Fishtail braids are "mermaid braids" and rope braids are "princess braids") but I was wondering if you moms had any other tips and tricks for helping to tame these tangle monsters.

I wash and condition my dd6 hair then use some leave in conditioner mixed with coco nut oil. Brush out her hair and do two French braids, then each morning I will rebraid one side at a time. She only gets tangles a bit around her face when sleeping. This dd has thickish hip length hair that she insists stays braided since she's very active and can't be bothered by her hair. I change her hairstyle every other day or whenever her hair get covered in grass or dirt and has been washed and conditioned.

Well, when I was younger, my mom always forced me to have a "bowl cut", so unfortunately, I don't have any advice from my own childhood. However, as an adult, I'm horribly prone to tangles and what I do before bed is to put a bit of hair moisturizer in before braiding 6 medium braids (divide hair into pigtails, then 3 braids on each side), then braiding them all together (like a 3-strand braid, but both top sections together, middle sections together, and bottom sections together - if that makes sense). In the morning, I have fantastic waves, but more importantly, it's 100% tangle-free and stays that way most of the day even when I do wear my hair loose.

You can buy detangler in a bottle.
I used to have really tangley hair but ever since I am oiling it, I hardly ever have tangles.
Though for some people oil doesn't seem to work. Instead their hair seems to prefer protein in order to be Tangle free.
Maybe satin pillow cases would also help?

There's a YT channel "babes in hairland". They have lots of different braided styles. I believe there's also a website. Yep, here it is!

Seconding the bottle of detangler. That thing saved me from a lot of pain and hair yankage after bathtime as a kid. Although, once I was old enough to use the shower, the number of tangles greatly decreased since my hair could maintain its natural straight shape through most of it.

Seconding babes in hairand! And I guess thirding the detangler. My mom used some (it was mainly cones and oils) and it was a lifesaver on my tender head.
