Cooking oil spray = leave-in conditioner?

But one second - would this work? Using cooking oil spray to oil your hair? I know that you can just use 'normal' oil, but hey............

I knee-jerk reaction is horror :) I wouldn't want the propellants in my hair. I would also think it would be hard to get it applied evenly and hard not to go too heavy on the application.

I think it's a pump spray, ladyfey, I don't see any propellants in the ingredients list.

TBH, I think about doing this every time I spray Pam into a baking dish. But I rarely oil the hair at all, so I hope some others pipe up with their opinions.

Why not buy a misto and put oil in it? Coconut wouldn't work but olive oil does so others would

^ I have spray bottles with my favorite oils and oil blends...I tend to spray on my hands rather than my hair though to control the amount.

Why spend so much on that ready-made product if a little bit of oil in a mister bottle is enough.

Hmm, the ingredients are rapeseed oil, coconut oil, water, flavourings, emulsifier (sunflower lecithin) and xanthan gum as a thickener.

I've got a bottle of extra virgin olive oil that came with one of those pump sprays. They sell some of them like that and it'd cost more to buy a separate pump spray container and have to pour the oil in. That's why I bought it. See here.

I've tried "misto" type oil sprayers like this (https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQD36W-IWlBVqknUYKSA_r8LmQhM9yy_5fJffKPMXlrHk1DZqZ8)and this (http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0146/8072/products/10.0531.28.20.jpg?v=1383944807)for cooking, and I would say the spray was a bit too concentrated for easy application on hair. The way I ended up using those sprays on hair is by spraying oil onto my palms and then spreading it lightly on my hair with my hands - so not a huge improvement on good old oil bottle. If your hair is very thirsty for oils, you might be able to just spray away - this is probably pretty individual and depends on hair type. :)

As for using an ordinary mister bottle to apply an oil+water mix, they get clogged super-fast with oils, sadly.

But plain oil in a mist bottle might work, although those little mist bottles that I'm thinking of are probably not made for fluids with the general viscosity of oil. I would imagine the nozzle part could get clogged pretty easily. I guess it's worth a try though.

I feel like I can get better coverage and control of how much oil I'm using by putting a drop or two in my hands and applying that way.

Yeah, they are not usual mister bottles, they are made specifically for oils and they don't get clogged easily - they are "misto" type oil sprayers like this (https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQD36W-IWlBVqknUYKSA_r8LmQhM9yy_5fJffKPMXlrHk1DZqZ8)and this (http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0146/8072/products/10.0531.28.20.jpg?v=1383944807). You can just pour any oil of your choice inside the bottle and spray. :)

I have an actual branded Misto.
If, and this is a huuuge if, you pump it to its highest pressure, it works on length.
Of course I tried it.

But, it also goes everywhere, so do it outside so you don't slip and fall on the oily floor. Ahem. Ouch.
