Because I am a history nerd, the Gibson Tuck was, and still is, one of my favorite updos. I used to wear it a lot back when I was around APL/BSL, but I lost the habit after a while as I got into braids and hairsticks. Fast forward to a few days ago, when I tried my first Gibson's Tuck in a long time. Much to my dismay, my hip length hair all fell out the bottom. The problem is that my hair is on the thin/fine side, but the length makes it disproportionately heavy. I tried it again just tonight, and it managed to stay up and look ~ok~, though it was quite lumpy. I wouldn't trust it out of the house, as I would inevitably walk around all day not knowing that half of my updo was falling out.
Long story short, I'm having trouble keeping my hair in a Gibson Tuck now that it is hip length. Do any of you seasoned longhairs have any suggestions as to modifications?
