Yes, same thing happened to me with a different brand but equally expensive. My hair being more on the wavier side hates the curly girl method anyway. People keep asking me why i don't use that method and every time i have to explain i don't like how it comes out looking a mess. My hair also loves cones even though i alternate between cones and no cones and hello hydration is by far the best conditioner i have found for my hair. :o I am curious as to what pantene products you're using? As always, i'd say best to stick to what works for ourselves.

I've tried the curly girl method multiple times thinking I must be doing something wrong, only to discover later that it's perfectly fine. It isn't for everyone. No matter the brand no poo and co washing makes my scalp breakout and my hair shed. My curls look way better on sulfates and silicones. I Have low porosity F/M hair, and I get build up QUICK with no poo, even while using cone free stuff. I used Curl Junkie for a couple months , but all the natural butters and oils in "curly girl" products are too heavy and my curls get stretched out. I know a lot of curly girls like to "elongate" their curls, but I'm the opposite. I want as much shrinkage as possible. I just use regular gentle shampoo (one that is clear/clarifying), light weight condish, silicone serum out of the shower, then scrunch gel. :) I thought about trying Deva for about two seconds, then thought naaaa. Why fix something that ain't broke? :)

I'm WCC, so I call it a modified curly girl since I follow up with LOC, and in between it there's the rinse-out oil method. It's close enough and hydrates properly.

I do the curly girl method, have for over 5 years, my hair loves it. I love Devacurl products. I'm sorry they didn't work for you. They don't work for everyone unfortunately :(.

I do a somewhat modified CG--I CO and use gel, rarely shampoo--but I don't like the Deva products at all. I've had them used on my hair several times in salons, but they always feel way too heavy and sticky. I do like Curl Junkie products, but I get the same results with Suave and LALooks gel, which are both cheap and easy to get. I do use CJ Daily Fix, though, if I feel like my hair needs more coeaning but not shampoo.

I've been doing CO washing for 7 or 8 years now. I don't use anything special, just VO5 conditioner, LI (Sally's Biolage knockoff) mixed with 3 or 4 drops mineral oil, a drop of honey, and occasionally topped off with LA Looks Sport gel. I've modified it to what works best for me.
