I was out shopping today and saw these:

and fell in love with the beautiful designs! Sadly they only came in the annoying metal barrette style attachment so I did not buy them, but I was thinking maybe I would try to paint a similar design over a ficcare...

Do any of you have clips like these? and if so I would love to see how you use them in your hair!

I don't have them because I think they won't fit. But I love them. My ukrainian friends wear them in half ups. They have long, thin hair (not all ukrainians, just these ones. They are mostly blonette, which they refer to as 'hair colored hair '

Beautiful!!!!! I need good solid barrettes, the cheap ones either eat my hair or my hair eats them.

I'd buy them and if they don't have good quality French barrette backs, I would replace the backs.

i have some beautiful barrettes at home with artist paintings on it, but i'm afraid to wear them: doesn't the metal cause breakage?

I don't have any clips like those but I think now I need some. For research purposes. Yeah, that's it.

Just pull the old one off and glue a new one on I would think. I've never done it, but it can't be that hard can it? (famous last words right?) Can try something like naptha or acetone to dissolve the glue I would imagine. That's what I would do anyway.

Lady melissa - I've heard it does but have never experienced it myself; I don't use this type of clip often enough to really know. But you should wear your barrettes every now and then just to show them off (and post pictures)!

Cania - They are super pretty! The shop had a lot of beautiful barrette designs but the clip type really deterred me from laying down the money... maybe I will bite the bullet though... Here is a link to the feather barrette on ebay to get a better look: [X (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Soreci-Fashions-Feather-Barrette-French-Hair-Clip-Accessory-/370972960294?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item565fb62626)]

chen - Thanks for the links, all the ones listed are so nice too! Also, "hair colored hair" cracked me up! :wigtongue

It was the taking off the clip part I'd like to hear more about. Even though they are not so expensive, I wouldn't want to buy one, try to take off the glue and either destroy the wood or melt the lacquer or take the paint off with the clip.

I'd also like to know about a source for large, smooth French barrette backs to glue on.

These are really pretty. If any of you guys want painted things like that, I can mod things easy enough with paint. I've done little tiny detailed paintings before that actually won an award with a cash prize 2 years ago. This summer I'm going to visit California and lounge around my BF's flat. So I'd have lots of free time. :)
