Is the colour of your hair black? Is it your natural colour or did you dye it? Have you tried henna and indigo?

I was born with black hair. I do henna glosses. I like it black so I worry that if I do too much henna I'll have to either add alma or try indigo. I'm wary of trying honey in a deep conditioner treatment because I've heard it can lighten hair. I've got a few grays too so I suppose the indigo would cover them. I have friend with 3b hair who always dyes her hair. Mostly she dyes it jet black, her natural hair colour is medium brown. I've never got tired of having black hair. Has anyone with black hair fancied a change or are you happy with your hair colour as it is?

there's another thread on this subject with lots of answers, unfortunately I forget the name. It's something like 'the Brunette thread.'

You might like it if you can find it. It had a lot of answers. There a lot of people on LHC who have black hair, either natural or dyed or natural with a little boost (including with henndigo or indigo). It also has pics.

Meanwhile I will answer you here though. The colour of my hair is black. It is my natural colour. I do not use henna or indigo or anything and I never have. It is really very black so I don't need to, also, although it is curly, it has shine. I am going grey but I am leaving it natural. I am boring, I guess...

I do love black hair. it is my favorite hair color.

There seems to be a lot of preference over on the thread that already exists for black 1a hair, but I love black curly or wavy hair better, personally.

My hair is naturally black. I do use a Henna, Indigo and Cassia mix to keep it like that, because my hair seems to be very UV sensitive, meaning it fades rather quickly to an ashy dark brown below my chin.
You can prevent honey from lightening your hair simply by heating it up to destroy the peroxide, so i have heard. I personally still prever molasses or agave syrup to add to moisture treatments.
If i would ever intentionally go lighter? No. The high contrast is what makes my skin look clear and my eyes sparkly.

Here's the Black Hair! thread. (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=56329)

There's also a Dark Hair Thread (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=59231) if you've got dark hair that you don't quite consider black.

Hi,

thanks, I wouldn't have known where to find it. I did see the dark hair thread before but I wanted to talk specifically about the colour black. I've heard that henna will eventually give black hair a little brownish red tint that you'll notice when light hits hair in a certain way. I prefer how light looks on jet black.
