I love anniversary posts, and although my results aren't as impressive as most anniversary posts on here, I'll share anyway, because hopefully this will give people dealing with heat and bleach damage some hope.
I cut off 5-6 inches in late February 2013 to get rid of terrible bleach damage. As you can see in 1st pic, the pink is where bleach remained. A year later, 2nd pic, I posted on LHC about my crumbling, split ends. After receiving some great advice on here I trimmed 2.5 inches and committed even more to a healthy hair routine.
my routine is as follows: heavy oiling before washing with sulfate free shampoo twice a week, detangle with conditioner in hair using a wide toothed combed, a light oiling on my ends (I use amla or coconut or a blended oil) and left to air dry. No more bleach, no more colouring. I've discovered that my hair likes silicones after going without for months. I only use heat sparingly, a handful of times a year. The condition of my hair continues to improve and I hope to keep refining my routine. In the last year I've had three one inch trims and will likely to the same in 2015. My shedding has increased over this winter but hopefully in the next year I will reach my goal of healthy waist length hair. Thanks LHC!
two years ago, after chop and half natural colour, half bleached and pink

one year later, February 2014, still damaged but growing and getting better. Shortly after I trimmed off 2.5 inches

Today, longer, healthier but still a work in-progress
