I just did a DIY trim and I found my head has lots of tiny hairs which i trimmed. The thing is up close it looks really unsmooth. Do you think I should get a professional to have a go?

Are the ends getting tangled around each other? Causing knots or breakage? If not, I'd say just let it grow and trim a little later on.

I think it looks fine in the big picture of your whole head. If you wear your hair wavy (your profile says you're 2a, or if you do bun or braid waves) or in buns/up-dos then a little difference in length at the ends won't be noticeable at all to anyone but you. I'm pretty sure even if you straightened it and wore it like that, people would just think it to be a little bit of layering.

If it really gets on your nerves, you can try again or wait a few weeks and try then when it's grown back some. Practice makes perfect, especially when it comes to cutting your own hair. Did you use some kind of guide (a ponytail like Feye's method or compact cutting for layers, a CreaClip, etc.) or just eyeball it? There are lots of ways to cut your own hair at home, and they do get much easier as your hair gets longer, I promise. I've been cutting at home (with assistance) since shoulder length.
