View Full Version : Has it really been 4 years of LHC?!! Pic Heavy

I've been looking forward to making this thread for something like six months. :joy: I have now been an LHC member for 4 entire years. I just can't believe it has been that long. Time flies by so quickly. Ok so pictures. Lots and lots of them.

So this was right around the time I joined LHC. I had been growing out a cut and bangs that I didn't like very much.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15787&d=1423183543

This was taken last month right after henndigo.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15792&d=1423183548

Ok so onward to the history bit. I've had hair right at shoulder or longer ever since I've had hair. So I'm sure you all want to see pictures of that, right? Of course you do. Have some :cake: to pass the time.

I think this was taken when I was five and my sister was two. This is also what made me think I would like bangs as an adult. How very wrong I was. Way too much work to make them look nice.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15790&d=1423183546

Mom put my hair in a French Roll for a formal dance when I was sixteen.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15791&d=1423183547

High school graduation at 18 while growing out bleach damage.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15796&d=1423183551

So you remember that cut I was complaining about from the beginning of the post? There are no pictures of that cut. This was taken 2-3 months after that.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15788&d=1423183544

But wait there will be more to this history lesson

My adventure to the Zoo in Stuttgart, Germany in September 2010. A lot of growth happened in a year even with a couple of trims.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15799&d=1423183554

My flat mates and neighbors took me to visit Ludwigsburg Palace in October 2010 during a pumpkin festival. The girl I'm talking to was the first person I ever met who used henna, and she might be responsible for my LOVE of tea.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15801&d=1423183557

My first adventure into using henna happened after I had been a member of LHC for a few months. This was taken in the summer of 2011. I had a lot of damage on my ends due to neglecting and mistreating my hair during a very deep depression.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15794&d=1423183549

A little over a year later (October 2012) while hiking in the Smokey Mountains.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15802&d=1423183560

November 2012 while getting ready for a night out with some friends.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15804&d=1423183564

And there are still more photos.

Now we are in the more recent history.

First time in quite a while I had made a herringbone braid. June 2014.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15795&d=1423183550

This was the first time I used two-step henndigo(summer 2014). I didn't mix up enough indigo for full coverage, and what I mixed didn't stick to my hair very well.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15797&d=1423183552

That henndigo looked alright in a braided bun. (summer 2014).
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15785&d=1423183541

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15786&d=1423183542

My first paranda and the first bun I ever got to stay up with it in my hair. (summer 2014)
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15805&d=1423183565

So you know that new growth I've been grumbling about all over the forum? Well this is some of it. There is even more of it now. (August 2014)
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15803&d=1423183561

My second paranda. I like this one much better as it doesn't leave lint in my hair. However, I need to figure out a different way to secure the bun. This one pulled too much. (August 2014)
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15806&d=1423183566

I'm not done yet......

This should have gone in the second post, but no matter. This was my Halloween costume in 2012.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15793&d=1423183549

Ok, back to now.

My sister's kitty Lucky enjoys being a diva. He cleans faces and will ride around on your shoulders. He climbs up your body too if you don't pick him up and love on him.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15800&d=1423183555

A double braided bun for a wedding in October 2014. Thank you Madora for providing excellent instructions. Now if only I could get faster fingers.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15789&d=1423183545

Snuggles took a length picture for me at the Indianapolis Museum of Art in October 2014. Bun waves and nearing wash day.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=16010&d=1424478748

My first adventures with twisted sticks. Thanks pastina for parting with them. Late January 2015.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15808&d=1423183568

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15807&d=1423183567

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15798&d=1423183553

And now we've reached the end of the photos.

I will hopefully get some new length photos soon. Snuggles promised he would take some more when I see him next week.

I'm so flattered that you had such a reaction. :flowers: I don't actually know why it grows so fast. I usually neglect it and sometimes subject it to unkind treatment like bedhead snarls. Maybe it's genetics?

Very nice hair journey, Brickworld13 ! Thank you so much for sharing ! :)

You have gone through a lot of changes and experiments during 4 years : bangs, no bangs, natural color, henna, hennadigo, etc. I have to confess that particularly like this soft hennadigo you have done ! Your natural color gives it a good background to look stunning. I had always loved this color but never had the guts to try : too afraid of the keeping-up-with-roots and "no way back" kind of things so I usually just admire it on other people^^. I also love the French twist when you are 16, and the lovely wedding bun and party bun. So elegant ! :)

brickworld13
August 12th, 2015, 07:41 AM
Awww, thanks flickm and Mimha. I haven't used henndigo since January. My roots are absolutely showing now. In a few months I will have a pretty cool looking ombre. Right now, I just look lazy.

Beautiful, beautiful hair and journey!

I may someday go henndigo, too.
Surya's black henna cream is fairly easy to use (even I can do it! :P) and free of most of bad stuff, but it fades very quickly.
Lots of henndigo threads to read before making any decisions, though!

Just note the indigo doesn't usually stick the first time. For some people it takes more than 3 applications to get it to stick to the henna. It took two for mine to stick.

Brickworld13, I think your hair looks terrific! Four years of dedication and sure paid off for you!!

Thanks! :flowers: I would probably call it neglect more than dedication. I was already into protective styles and avoiding haircuts. I just learned a bit about how to get rid of buildup and wash less frequently. In that one photo with a funny angle in the first post, I had been washing my hair pretty much every day. That was far too much and was causing hydral fatigue.
