spiral rods for curls?

Since my length is pulling out a bit my curls, I wanted to try those "spiral rods" is that the name?? Where you twist your damp hair around them and then let them dry. Anyone used these and like/not like?

I would love to know too! Braid waves look just kooky on my hair.

I've tried perm rods, but my hair is too thick and long to really make them work. :) They do give a really nice curl though and they are decently cheap (I got mine at the dollar store). If you find that they don't work for you, I usually use rolled up paper towels or rolled up bandannas and they do basically the same thing.
