Many of us have been there, we had lovely hennaed hair but found ourselves itching to be blonde and asked ourselves the question, can it be done? Well, 2 years ago in cosmetology school I decided to take the plunge and bleach out my henna. I did a test strand with a 20vol and it turned to an interesting marigold color that I've never seen before when lifting haircolor. I figured it would be fine and I could tone it out. I then proceeded to apply bleach to my entire head (40vol). I was left with a horrible pale highlighter orange. In order to break up the color a full foil highlight had to be applied (again with 40vol). After that it definitely was an improvement from the highlighter orange but it was the worst condition my hair has ever been in. It snapped off during brushing and stretched like a spaghetti noodle while wet. Even after 2 rounds of 40vol bleach and every toner/purple shampoo under the sun the henna was very much still there. It wasn't a nice strawberry blonde but rather a very brassy blonde. It looked almost metallic and not in a good way. No amount of deep treatments ever improved the texture/condition and I eventually shaved it off, that's right, half an inch of hair left. I've been growing out ever since and now have a chin length bob :) Just thought I would share what happens for those who may be wondering!

Wow, that's truly a horror story! But on the bright side, you totally rock your current hairdo! I wish I could pull off short hair like that but I look terrible with it.

Why thank you! it was a pretty unfortunate color but the short cut was fun ;)

Thank you! I'm glad it's finally a bob and out of that weird in between stage. It was a tough decision to shave it all off but there was just no saving it after that damage. I bet you could look cute with a shorter cut if you wanted, you have a pretty face shape for it.

Oh, thank you! I tried it out a couple years back but I prefer long hair over short cuts on me, hence I'm here. :) In fact, I started growing out from exactly the length you have now about 3 years ago.

I know what you mean, the short is fun and cute but I like long hair best too! hopefully I'll be where you are in a couple years too
