I just found these pictures from a woodland poetry/music performance I did last fall. I'm pretty excited, because I almost never see my hair down (first, because it's almost never down, and second, because when it is, it's BEHIND me :P ) so these are partially for me...but I figured other people here might enjoy them too. I've got to say, even though I can feel it against my calfs, when I see how long it is in pictures, I do a double-take - "my hair is THAT long? when did that happen?"

Basically. It's a french lace braid that then gets wrapped around my head 2x. Fewer pins than a usual crown braid, but I might be wrong.

Yes, definitely! More to protect my arms than my hair though - it gets EVERYWHERE! ;)

I have no idea. I'm actually still a little hazy on how the system works since it's hard to judge thickness from a picture. But my hair is about half the thickness of my mother's, so I've always thought of it as medium-thin. I think the half-up style makes it look thicker than it really is...

Lol! When I saw your pictures I imagined that as you were walking through the woods, the wind blew your hair so that it latched onto branches and things. It's a majestic length, I can see people asking you to let down your hair so they can climb up to your window :)

The system is based on ponytail circumference. You just measure the circumference of your ponytail (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=129056) and then the classifications are as follows:

i = less than 2" circumference
ii = between 2" and 4" circumference
iii = more than 4" circumference

People also use intermediate classifiers (i/ii and ii/iii) if they feel they are spot-on or very close to the boundary or if (e.g. because they're curly) their measurements vary somewhat but always centre on the boundary.

Huh. look at that. you're right, Panth (and the others who pointed it out), my hair is iii instead of ii. I measured it again last night and it's 4.5"...which is more than 4 (I'm good at math like that ;) ) I'll go fix that now, thanks!! Can anyone tell I'm a member of the benign neglect club?
