View Full Version : No more blunt bangs!

I feel a little deprived still because I've had bangs since childhood, but I wanted more versatility. This will sound silly, but it was being in the Tolkien fandom that finally persuaded me to grow them out: those pretty Elven circlets don't look quite right over blunt bangs
So I went from this:

to this!:

I don't know if I'll ever grow them all the way out to even with my hemline (from cheekbone to tailbone would take five-ever) but somewhere in between jaw and shoulder might be nice :)
And one day I'll get a full length mirror so the rest of my length will be visible.

Wow. Looks nice! I have to admit, I wish I had enough hair (thickness) to have bangs like those, though! You look like a totally different person without bangs. Very pretty!

Thank you ladies :) I think I look different, too, though I'm not sure exactly how. I like it though!

You look lovely in both pictures! It's amazing the difference a few inches of growth can make for your overall appearance.
And yes, you definitely look more "elven" with no bangs :p

You look great both ways..-... but I feel you are one of those lucky girls who can pull of the long middle parted black raven hair. It looks sweet gothic-ethereal.

Thank you!! :toast:
I actually don't part my hair entirely down the middle, it's a little bit off to the right since I have a long, slender face and like most people my face isn't entirely symmetrical.
And my sister and I have a joke that with my high forehead+full brows if I actually were an elf I would somehow be the daughter of movie-Elrond and movie-Thranduil, hahaha.

Quite the transformation, but I like it. :D

I think it's gorgeous grown out! I absolutely agree about the elvin circlets (woman after my own heart!); post some pictures with circlets! (Have you already? The threading on these forums [fora?] is somehow slightly nonintuitive for me.)

I think either one looks alright. You've went from one transformation to another with graceful results.

Your reason for growing them out isn't silly at all! Tolkien's elves are what kept me going from mid-eye to lip length when I desperately wanted to cut them because they were getting in the way. I'm personally aiming for collarbonelength. :)

Like missblueyes said! The entire reason I have long hair at all is my Tolkien fandom (also one of the driving forces behind growing out my blunt bangs!). Mine are grown out nearly to shoulder, but still want to try and grow them out all the way.
No shame in changing it up, you look lovely either way!:blossom:

i like the parted hair on you much more than the bangs. really pretty!
i had bangs too ages ago and they grew out to about waist, so dont worry, it takes time but it will eventually happen.

Thank you everyone!! It's nice to see that there are fellow Tolkien fans who have ditched their bangs and/or grown their hair for that same reason. What a shame we can't all just sit in a circle elven-braiding each other's hair :p
sophiamermaidI will try and take some circlet pics soon :) I was a complete idiot the other day and BROKE one but I have another around here somewhere.
