How can you dust short hair?

My hair's currently shoulder length and I can't actually get to the back easily at all. How can I dust my hair at this point? I really want to get rid of split ends without going to the salon.

My hairdresser dusted mine right before I joined. Can you get a friend to help you?
(I still can't S&D the back of my hair very well, and the shortest layers are past shoulder now.)

What I do to dust my hair is I braid it into about 12 or so braids then I snip off the ragged looking bits. This method works for me because I'm tightly curly and don't really straighten my hair a lot, so I don't feel the need to have a perfect hemline. I second Browneyedsusan. Having a friend dust might be better in your case
