View Full Version : Did I screw up my hemline or is it just the waves?

Hi everyone! So, a few weeks ago I trimmed my v-hemline with Feye's method and took of less than 1/4 of an inch. The results were great but I recently started hating the severe taper I had so I wanted to gradually go back to a u-hemline. I did the 2nd step from Feye's method that involves sliding a hairband down your low ponytail and cutting off the end. I trimmed another 1/4 cm or less because I didn't really want to risk anything. The thing is, my hair has been in a LWB all day long and has bunwaves that I disregarded when I cut it.
I'm just not sure if the cut I did is even so I want to get in another opinion.

This is what I started off with:

This is what I have now:

I think my eyes are playing a trick on me because there are some hairs crawling up my right shoulder...
What do you think?
:undecided

Also: Please ignore my bangs in the second picture, they make it look like I'm not wearing a center part. >>"

I also might want to reconsider my hairtype.. I think I turned into a 1c.

I'm sorry but it's really hard to tell from the pictures  But I think your hair looks really nice! Lovely wavyness going on there.

I'm really sorry for the pictures but I just didn't have an alternative right now. :S I tried looking as straight ahead as possible but I'm not sure how well it turned out. Anyway, thank you for your compliment!
I guess it looks alright either way :) Let's see if DBF notices anything when he gets home. For now, I'll just put it up and try to forget about it.

My hair waves and wurls unevenly, so as I microtrim and my hair thickens up one side of my hemline is looking much longer (about 2 inches) than the other, not because I made a mistake cutting it, just because my waves are shrinking the other side more. It looks uneven but it's not and I don't want to lose that length just to make it look even when next time I wash it'll look odd again. It's the curse of the self-trimming wavy!

You'll have much less of that problem if you're only dealing with bun waves in between 1B periods. If you looked at the ponytail and cut 1/4 inch each time, then any significant, visible "problems" are going to be the bun waves. If the second u-making trim was 1/4 inch or less, and if you pulled the hair evenly/tight as you made the ponytail and pulled it down, you might not even see problems when your hair goes straight again because all the strands should be the same length.

If that was my hemline I'd be super pleased actually!

I think it looks fine, but then I find it hard to dislike a hemline - but really, I don't think I can see anything wrong or odd-looking about it. :)
And either way, it is hair, it will grow on. ^.^

It looks great! :applause
And I don't see any unevenness at all in the hemline, even though I kept looking for it since you mentioned it.
If I could trim so beautifully myself, I'd be really super-happy and proud! :D

Thank you, Nique, DreamSheep and meteor! Now that I'm looking at it, it looks even. I guess it was just my mind playing with me because it was the first time cutting the tip of the low ponytail, which I always found to be a wonky step. :,) I'm super glad it turned out well! :cheese:

I think it's fine and that you've got a nice soft U shape to it. Enjoy your hair. Don't try and fret about it so much, you did a great job!
