Hello everybody :) I just wanted to share because I realized that this January marks my first entire year growing hair at LHC!! I have learned so much from this website that has made my hair better and my life dealing with such hair so much easier. A day when I don't use a hair toy is super rare now. I just wanted to say a collective thank you for giving me inspiration and tips and support and so many wonderfully inspiring photos of beautiful hair that have influenced me to grow mine!!

This is what I started with here, last January on the 19th. Not the best photo because Im leaning back a little (lol... cheating) but it's what I have. I started the year not even at APL with the goal to get to BSL. I wore my hair down most of the time because it had been too short to do anything with for awhile, mixed in with peacock twists. (i feel sad, but now that my hair is longer I have no idea how to use my african butterfly combs)... The whole reason I originally wanted to grow it was so I could do better updos and more updos, since I knew I liked having my hair up and out of my face.

And this is where I am now!! (well, I took this picture about 4 days ago) I think I have about 3-4 inches to go til waist, so I definately made my goal!!
Ive also aquired 21 hairsticks, 14 hair forks, 5 flexis, a silk sleep bonnet & pillowcase, seamless wide tooth combs, a tt, wooden hair brush, various hair oils and a new wash and condition routine in addition to just generally being more careful about my hair. I hadn't realized until I counted just how much I had done and attained for my hair in the last year due to LHC. I definately don't regret any of it! In the process I grew to past BSL, and almost completely got rid of my layers.
edit: I think i shoud also mention that the most valuable thing I think I learned was how to handle my hair better, and how to style it. I was so , so much more clumsy and ignorant with my hair before I joined here, and I was always frustrated when I couldnt force it to do what I wanted. but I have learned so many invaluable hair styling tips and do's from here that I always just kind of was baffled by "how people did that" before.
My new goal for the next year is to get to waist and work on slowly changing my hem to be straighter instead of U like. I plan on getting a 1 inch trim in the spring versus my usual 1/4 of an inch or 1/2 of an inch trim. I still have about 5 inches of hair that had been bleached and dyed on the bottom so the bigger trims will help me make lot of progress getting rid of that too, next year, and I still definately think I will make waist even with bigger trims. (since those trims are only two in a year)
Anyway, thanks LHC for helping with my hair and pretty much giving me new hobby!!
