Hi all, I've just tried to stretch a shed hair and it snaps quite easily. I also tried a wet hair and that snapped easily too. There is very little stretch to it. My wet hair used to stretch quite a lot. What does this mean? Do I need moisture or protein. Sorry for asking a dumb question but all this porosity and elasticity confuses me. Thanks

I think it's moisture but there are experts here.

I think hair will not stretch as well if it has less silica. not sure if that is something that 'cones' would help with at all. but I know that it's common for people to have low silica in diet.
not sure if "not stretch as well" would mean "breaks more easily when stretched", but that would be my guess

Healthy hair does not stretch a lot. If hair stretches like a rubber band it is a sign of real problems like bleached hair.

Sounds like what my hair use to do after I would use bleach. Have you ever lightened?
