January seems to be the month of hair anniversaries so i figured i might as well join in! I've been here a year as of the 6th though i feel like i've been here much longer (maybe because i lurked for awhile). I joined because i made the decision to grow back to knee length and there's not many people out there that get why i'm doing that. Other than a head shaving phase in my teens i've always had long hair, and was at knee in my elementary school days and in my mid twenties. So it's time to grow back! The big difference is that this time i'm using hair forks and sticks, before i was a scrunchies/hair ties/blob bun with an ink pen type of girl. I'm usually most active in the "conventional products" and "swap" sections of the forum. In this year i've made some great hair friends and i'm looking forward to having another year with you all! (insert group hug emoticon here, i'll have too many images in the post if i add it!)
Here's the hair in February, i was in the evocatively named BCL vicinity...

over the year i had all sorts of bun fails, my hair can be hard to work with! I think this was a knot bun attempt..

however i did finally manage the cinnabun in June, this was a huge achievement for me! I had felt like a dunce not being able to make this basic bun and it turned out i just wasn't long enough yet due to thick hair!

and the length i required to do it:

the next month my hair started outgrowing Jeter forks, my LWB got too big for the three prong ones and they'd go in one side and slowly start disappearing out the other. Now 4 prong ones do the same thing. I think this was also around the time a resin TT broke while holding my hair up. : (

i also started getting some significant white streaks in the front, i'm quite pleased with those! At first i was a bit concerned about how it would effect me job wise but i got a really good response to them (my friends and co-workers thought it looked cool, the SO thinks it's hot) so i'm going with it. I have way too much hair to mess around with dying it! I used to bleach it and the roots would show up by the next week. Premature white hair runs in the family, i'm a late bloomer at 35-36.

i tried out some different things and learned my hair prefers to be left alone. Cassia? My scalp hated it and the weight of it on my head about killed me, and my hair was meh about it. CWC? My hair is indifferent. CO? Hair looks great but sheds even more than usual, and my scalp hates it. Oils? My hair liked it briefly and now doesn't. Coney conditioner? My hair loves it for a few weeks then turns into straw. So just the very basics here, a tiny drop of shampoo in an applicator bottle of water followed by a heap of cone free conditioner is about as exciting as it gets. My hair does well with chamomile rinses and white vinegar rinses but guess who can't be bothered to do them regularly :/
i also learned to be aware of my surroundings when taking hair toy action shots...

in October my hair had a run in with a space heater, a chunk of it got sucked into the back and melted together into a mess...the space heater didn't live to tell the story.
i was also able to claim classic in late October! My hair has a tendency to fork at the end at this length, i'd forgotten about that!

here's the hair at the end of the year, i've been trimming a half inch here and there to thicken the ends up, i'm coming back from a bad shed. I cut a full inch off this week and i'm putting the hair on ignore until June, no more length shots or trims until then!

i think that covers it! Happy growing everyone! : )
