At one point i was taking 5000 mcg of biotin everyday. It worked like a charm but was too expensive to purchase. I am a poor graduate :/ The cost of biotin pills came out to be around $40 a year. My yearly budget for fun and hobbies is $250 a year. I spent the majority of this money on Netflix and homemade beer. ... Where can i find really cheap biotin??
....
Where can i purchase cheap hair toys? Like I said I'm a broke former student.

40 dollars a year is only 3.33 a month. I honestly don't think you're going to find Biotin any cheaper. I also don't think Biotin is a necessity in hair growth or health as we get our recommended dose of Biotin in everyday foods.

So, if you stop using Biotin that will cut out your expense right there.

You have about 20$ a month for extras, including Netflix. I would try sharing a Netflix account with someone, there can be 2 streaming devices at one time on Netflix. If you find someone that you can trust to only stream one thing, and you do the same, you can cut that expense to $4 a month versus $8.

Or, watch free channels like Crackle and the Hulu free portion. Or stream movies through Youtube. You may not have the variety that you do with Netflix, but it's free.

You can use metal knitting needles as hair forks. You bend them into a U shape. They also sell bamboo knitting needles in the craft area of most stores and you can get several for $5. Leave plain or decorate with paint and toppers. Chopsticks are cheap or free (the free ones may snap, but free is free)

There is also a thread on here for people who wish to participate called the "pay it forward thread" (it's not the pay it forward one but it's the other one and they have you on a lost to get free items that people donate) Search for it in the swap section and add yourself to it.

I found it, it's called the "RAOK list from the pay it forward swap"

mz_butterfly Already gave some great advice!

I don't think biotin is necessary, work on your general diet, lots of protein and you'll be fine! Drink load of water.

A lot of people recommend spin pins and they're awesome but pretty expensive for (5-6 dollars for 2 pins) so I went on Amazon and found these.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008TN1Z9U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They're the exact same thing, but you get 10 of them for 2 bucks! The only difference is they don't have the little plastic ends like spin pins do. They're not sharp, but just to be safe I took my glue gun ands put a small bead of glue on the tips. If you don't have a glue gun, I think a drop of clear nail polish would work well too.

I bought some hair forks from "quecraft" on ebay. She combined shipping so that I paid $4.80 to have nine items shipped. I have been very pleased with the wooden forks I have bought from her ($2.80 to $3.80 each). I am sure they are not as nice (or near the selection) of the Jeter forks and other higher end toys a lot of people here use, but I am thrilled for the price I am paying. I did buy a horn fork that did not work in my hair at all, so I am sticking with the wooden ones.

I agree with Nadine about the generic spin pins--I bought mine from ebay.

I would LOVE to find some inexpensive dymondwood sticks or forks, if anyone has any suggestions.... I am on a very tight budget, but they are so pretty.

I search the thrift stores and yard sales for hair toys, but never find any. But then, I NEVER see anyone around here wearing hair toys. Colored pencils work as hair sticks on the cheap.....

I love spin pins, but I'm always losing them. Have the cheapo spiral pins currently the the way via slow boat from China. So excited to find them that cheap!

I remember finding a beautiful hair fork at the thrift store, but it was before I joined LHC so I didn't know what it was and didn't buy it! Ugh.

My biotin for a year (220 capsules) only costs me $10. You shouldn't be eating large doses of biotin thorough the year, take breaks too so your body doesn't get used to it. I don't use any hair toys but second hand shops are my favorite places to shop, you never know what you'll find. I've never found a hair toy though. I bought 3 Invisibobbles and that's all I ever use. It's inexpensive (and to some a bit boring) to use one item to style your hair. (: As far I I know anything about hair toys... Couldn't you just carve a hair stick from a branch?

You can find a leather belt with large holes at a thrift store, cut off a 3-4" section and use a chopstick (or sanded twig from your backyard) to push through the holes to get an effect like this (https://www.etsy.com/listing/53253202/retro-leather-barrettes-with-sticks?ref=cat_gallery_2&ga_search_query=leather++barrette&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=all). I can't find mine for a pic right now.

Ant these look like you could make something similar at home:

ETA:
Found it! It needs a much shorter stick though. Piece of thrifted leather belt with two holes drilled in it.http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/b628/Jessica_Ghigliotti/20141230_084917_zpsieqqw7k9.jpg (http://s1295.photobucket.com/user/Jessica_Ghigliotti/media/20141230_084917_zpsieqqw7k9.jpg.html)

You'd be much better off by trying to have a balanced, varied, healthy diet than by spending money on biotin. Your body / the microbes in your gut make biotin and between that and the biotin in food (it's in loads of foodstuffs) it is highly, highly unlikely that you're deficient. Also, overdosing on biotin can cause (among other things) cystic/scarring acne, headaches and kidney failure. Why risk it?
