So, my husband keeps telling me to spend a little money on myself every once in awhile. And he specified that new kitchen towels don't count lol! I'm pretty low maintenance and don't need anything, but my longest layers are just past BSL and I'm finally being able to do things with my hair, so a few hair toys would be nice.

I currently have one plastic claw clip and one metal flower, that's all.

What are your absolute favorites? (Besides ficcare because I can't justify $50 on a clip)

What would you consider good "core" pieces in a hair toy collection? Real workhorses that can be used in many styles?

Thanks :)

BTW, my hair is thick, curly right after a wash, wavy by a week old. My length goal is BCL (as least)

a set of acrylic forks i picked up recently, they are from a german store called kaufrausch. black and very minimalist, but sturdy and oh sooo smoooth. they are two prong and almost disappear in my bun, so i wear them crossed that a little bit peeks out on top of the bun on either side.

I've found the Goody ouchless one piece barrette to be a real workhorse. No seams or parts to snag your hair. Comes in a variety of sizes/colors (got mine at Target). Rugged construction. Easy to use.

If you're looking for something with more bling, then a Flexi 8 is a great place to start: http://www.lillarose.biz/our-products.html
